I found Bones (his new name) wandering, sorry, staggering along the road yesterday. I took him straight to the vets where he underwent blood tests, worming and tick treatment. KAR have no room, but were helpful with advice. He is now staying with me. If anyone knows the owner, as you know we are specialists in wrought iron and I have a free "gift" for him. Delivery of the piece of wrought iron around his head is totally FREE, lift to the hospital afterwards however is NOT included in this special offer!! I have photos but don't know how to download, any instructions please?

No brown and white with spotty legs. I have photos but don't know how to download. I don't want him to go back to his "owner" I think he was abandoned in December hunt and found his way down to the village.

| The same description would describe one of our beautiful dogs about 3 years ago, but she came with 6ft of fuse wire tightly tied around her neck as well. She collapsed at the bottom of our drive. She is now the most beautiful dark chocolate brown, and she gleams like a pedigree racehorse when the sun shines on her coat. |I pray the same happens to Bones. Good luck. Tango1 |

Bob, A really sorry excuse for a dog,but if Riley is used as the norm,i think in 6 to 8 weeks he wil be back to his normal weight. Botanica, my advice was given in relation to our experience with Riley, for specific advice you should consult your local vet

I think I know who he is, when i was out on holiday a few weeks back, i took a walk into the mountain at the back of sea vistas apartments in catalkoy, there is a farmer up there on the track that keeps beautiful male bullocks, chickens etc, then always has 2 dogs kept in the most cruel manor, usually tied up short, no food no water no shelter, i have released a couple of the dogs over the years and always reported my findings to KAR, the last time i was out i released bones as he was starving, i had fed the dogs every evening and watered tthem. This man is unbelievably cruel to dogs every time i visit he always has different ones, obviously the others died. Once he kept 2 dogs in an old wooden pen 4ft by 4ft, they were going mad in all there own filth etc, KAR acted on that and both dogs were released to fend for themseelves by the owner, at least then they had a chance!! This dog was beautiful loving and submissive im so glad hes found you, i prayed for him every night. I know th

this farmer does NOT like it when people find out how he is keeping these dogs, maybe if some of us could walk up that way now and again and make our prescene known he will stop this HORRIFIC keeping of dogs, also the dogs restraint were so tight round there necks soon they would be breaking skin. I will be out again soon and if i see him i dont know what i might do, what i dont understand if you dont like ddogs, which he obviously doesnt why keep them like that, i think he just likes torturing dogs. On a lighter note i am so happy bones has been found thankyou thankyou thankyou. Love Christine

Seriously, google Satin Balls, I know sounds kinky, but it's a recipe for building up underweight dogs. I was sent it recently by a friend from South Africa after one of ours had pined so much at kennels and came back skeletal. Worked for us.

OMG I can't stop the tears rolling down my cheeks, half upset and half b****y angry with the state of this poor dog. It's times like this that I wish I lived there and could offer a home as we intend to get 2 dogs when we eventually move over. If there's anything I can do from the UK eg help towards vet bills or food costs let me know please?

Hi mozgor, when are you moving over as I know of 3 looking for a very good home. They are all beautiful. Like you I couldnt stop crying seeing the state of this poor soul. All I know he is now in safe hands and hopefully will recover from his ordeal. Sadly he is one of many but many of us restore them to good health.

Thank you so much for the support! I will check out the satin balls!! He is desperate for food and I have to feed him so carefully. He wags his tail when he sees me and doesn't shake so much. I know there are probably hundreds like him, but apart from "shock pictures" I had never seen one in "real life". Like you Mozgor - I was upset and angry all at once. You sound like a very kind person. Thank you for your kind offer.

Why on EARTH would someone have a dog when they clearly feel nothing but contempt for them? They can't even be used for hunting, being so emaciated; can't be of any use to man nor beast, so why would this bloke keep the animal, and not give it to someone who cares? it brings your stomach up the cruelty of mankind to creatures who can't fend for themselves.......

Bazzagirl , yes i think its a good idea to let this half wit know that people are aware of his cruelty. There is a charity which investigate animal cruelty here. Many people have been banned by this charity from keeping animals. i did post about this charity, i think its north cyprus animal protection.

Good luck Botanica, Riley looked just like that but covered in sores, the haunches down to the bone, you saw him the other day, believe me in 8 weeks Bones will be a different dog. Indeed, if only they could talk......I know what I'd like to do to the perpetrators but it is unprintable!

Bones visited Petcross yesterday earlier than anticipated as he started to shake his head and scratch his ear. I straight away thought - ear mites, but it seems not. He cried in pain and it appears that he has a foreign body /maybe a grass seed deep inside the ear canal. As a result he is booked for sedation tomorrow morning. Not ideal for a boy in his condition, but we are between the devil and the deep blue sea with regards infection.

I haven't opened the pictures of Bones because I've seen so much suffering with animals here (I won't even bring up the subject of horses and donkeys I've seen) and you never, ever get used to it. However, people are asking "how could anyone treat an animal in such a way". The answer is both complex and simple at the same time. 1. There are people in this world who are intrinsically evil. They are devoid of any feelings of compassion and humanity. 2. The other reason is "because they can". Until and unless the people and Governments of this country change their attitude towards animals, these atrocities will continue. KAR are trying very, very hard to raise more money towards their Education programme and go into schools and hopefully change the attitudes of the next generation. Until this is done, nothing will change in my opinion. Tango1

@ Lilli - we would be living there now, but for my aged Mum who will be 92 next week on 13/4 and I just can't bring myself to leave her although she suffers from Alteimers and hasn't a scooby who I am most of the time. I'm confident very soon after we move over a situation will present itself and we will have at least 1-2 dogs, don't know how our 2 cats will react, but c'est la vie.

Im probably going to get an ar bashing for this, but re msg 36...I really dont think that it has any thing at all with people being evil. The fact is the majority (not all) of local people have little regard for animals, they do respect animals and are never taught how to care for animals on a level that is acceptable to us. They are still told that it is unhealthy to have animals in the home, and are even told to keep away from pets completely when they are pregnant...my sister in law was recently told she could have a miscarriage if she touched our dog! So given all of this they never form emotional attachments to pets they way that we do and so if their dog wanders off, they arent going to put themselves out to go looking for it. If a dog that is bred for hunting doesnt perform to the required standard they arent going to keep it. And if they havent got any money for dog food they will let the dog go hungry...sad but true. cont..

cont... I am not defending their actions, I am an animal lover and despise the way animals are treated here. In particular the practice of laying down poison, which is just unbelievable. Until there is more education and stricter laws on keeping animals, and the issuing of hunting licences for dogs, well we never see an improvement.

I understand what you are saying Tinkie, a dog is just another piece of property, like a table or chair and it seems that you can dispose of "it" whenever and however you want. The fear factor that certain people have for dogs is deep rooted in fear of disease and attack etc. and will take generations to remove I am afraid! On a lighter note, Bones has had his op for a deep seated grass seed in his ear and I will be collecting him after work!!
