The characters on my plates were 7.5 cm high which appears to have been the norm but some differ. Apparently the new law stipulates minimum 7.6 cm and max 8.9 cm. (nice little earner for the police then). I opted for 8 cm and in spite of providing a scale drawing I was given a new plate 7.5 cms. The next attempt was made 8 cm but holes had been drilled through the characters and I can imagine what the police would say to see screws through the numbers !!! 3rd time lucky. I drilled and fitted it myself. The bench mark appears to be 15 TL per plate though that may have now been affected by supply and demand. Happy, safe, motoring !

gates;

How many 'locals' do you know that fits in your above comments?

I bought a metro,mg for a friend once in uk for £100,years mot with it, back in the 90s.Didn't have no brakes though,was having to use hand brake on my way to deliver it.

How they gave me valid mot certificate is beyond me. ............mind you,the place I got it from was an mot centrer as well.

Then again..........you didn't need to take your car there for mot,£50 cash,job done.

Because they have run out of plates they are now stretching the existing numbers and painting them with reflective paint

As I understand it (and I could be wrong) but according to the paper, it is essential to have a yellow plate on the rear. The only exceptions allowed are hire cars, army vechicles and all RHA plates. That makes all the Turkish number plates illegal from tomorrow - but I suspect it won't make any differences at all to them!!

Can Ismet confirm the size of the lettering on the number plates, please. Must we really have new ones made just for the size of the lettering?
