| Are these the flights from Cyprus Premier - if so they are charter flights and can only be sold as part of a holiday. We can offer them including one weeks hotel and up to two weeks without the hotel so you can stay in your villa for two (or more weeks) but not for over three weeks. | Those why intend to change from THY, Pegasus and Atlas to Onur air, I wish you luck and don't count on any connecting flights out of Istanbul as they have a lot of delays. Message 2, you flew Onur in 1992, its only 19 yeas ago and this makes a comment of no relevance! Onur have been flying charter flights for tour operators the recent years as well and also there they have not been getting too high score on punctuallity. |

I was trying to point out that Onur is not a new airline. If only relevant comments were posted on this forum then it would be a lot smaller than it is

Agree with Nick, I fly direct to Larnaca from Abu Dhabi no hanging around, theres either a taxi or Hire car waiting, changing in Turkey is a pain...

I too flew with Onur Air to Ercan many times from 1993 to 1994 on flights from Stansted. At that time the Chairman of Onur Air was Tonguz Kazim who had been owned a chain of restaurants in London and had a family North Cyprus connection. In any event round about 1995 there was " management restructuring" within the company ie a big falling out , Tonguz ceased to have any role and Onur air ended their service to Ercan. In those pre 9/11 days there was a company policy that all passengers were invited to visit the flight deck which was great fun for the children - and the not so young. At that time they operated a fleet of highly mortaged but nearly new Airbus A 320s, their time keeping and service was OK but they currently get very indifferent passenger reviews.

Offshore, you appear to know a lot about the company. I was told years ago they were the post planes, is that correct?

I had occasion to visit the company on business in Istanbul in 1993 and met some of the senior management. At that time they were determined to be a cut above the type of Turkish airline who started up in the spring and were gone by the autumn leaving a pile of debt and impounded aircraft scattered around Europe with the cash having all been siphoned off by the directors. The set up they had at Ercan was up to the mark and my understanding was internal politics caused them to pull out of Cyprus. I really don't know if they had the mail cargo contract but if they did it would have been a "nice little earner"
