I am a qualified teacher with 15 years experience living at present in north cyprus. Does anyone know of any teaching jobs or tutoring jobs in the kyrenia area?. I can offer Tutoring in english , and in schools I am qualified to teach drama. Could someone also give me a list of private primary and secondary english speaking schools in the area? I know of the British Academy , and the GAU . Thank you for your help.

Are you Cypriot? If not, then you have a strtuggle getting a work permit as there has been a clamp down. And if you are living in North Cyprus, take a look at a telephone directory, and be warned that there are already loads of English teachers here who are out of work. You might be lucky if you were to apply to Lefke as I know of two teachers who will be leaving.

good luck

I thought it was 40,000 teachers in Turkey, Bakhyt, but I am possibly wrong.

Have you tried ESK at Bellapais?

TEFL might be recognised if you was a local or in a south east asian country for maybe infant school.

Try some of the private schools here on the island, they are always swapping and changing staff,or so it seems from reading this forum.

Look at the top of this thread,THE BRITISH ACADEMY OF NORTH CYPRUS is advertised.

Im sure theres space for an good old fashioned English teacher in the TRNC

Where were the adverts for english teachers did you say? I understood they were desperate for a fill in due to two teachers being suddenly unavailable. Why not speak to some GAU teachers to find out about GAU? IOn fact any of the teachers. Apparently NearEast is a good place, but gettingh vacancies in the middle of the year is extremely difficult. What is best is to search for october time and get a contract etc, etc.

Hi Jackie, I am an English teacher also and have recently left British Academy for a post back in the UK - maybe worth enquiring... Good luck - and honestly, there are jobs out there and you can get a work permit in International Schools as you are professionally qualified - it is only no professional permits that are not being issued.

If you want to email me off board, please feel free. My email address is on my profile.

My advice to you would be, not to mention any names but, "AVOID SCHOOLS WITH HIGH TEACHER TURNOVER AT ALL COSTS".

Also make sure you get paid. Guido taught at near east for a year , had to chase his money month upon month, eventually as it was in the system we were told. After 9 months he got 3 days wages. It was a nightmare as he really enjoyed it but chasing the money made it impossible x

Hello there,

I am a new member.I am planning to relocate to North Cyprus for my daughter's education.I have a 3 year old daughter who speaks English and some Turkish.

I heard that there are English speaking or bilingual schools available in the area.British Academy is one of them.Would you kindly share your experiences of the school?

Thanks
