just been over to the south and found that all shops closed! does anyone whether it is a public holiday/religious festival, and whether the shops will be open tomorrow?

They are celebrating the birth of EOKA and the chaos they have caused for the last 50 years. Some Pibol, as my GC cousins say?

They will also be shut on 22nd and 25th April (Easter). Most years the Greek (Cypriot) Easter holidays don't coincide with the UK ones either.

It's always worth checking online before you plan a trip as they can have public holidays any day of the week.
