I would not spend time and money on Deep Purple, I have seen them like 5 years back in Istanbul. It cost me 125 TL, they came on stage at 22.05 and 23.05 they said good night. The crowd was whisteling, clapping and wanted extra numbers. Nothing helped and they did not show up again.

The worse part was they did not even play several of their best numbers like smoke on the water.

It was very bad and disrespectful to the audience.

mess 2 - its a fair point, but with the north starved of decent music, i'm sure a fair few trnc residents will b flocking over...................

in complete contrast to packing up after a hour - i remember seeing a german band called "can" at B'ham town hall - and they wouldn't stop ! - in the end the town hall staff turned the lights on and pulled the plug mid sone -oh how times change..........

Fantastic band, one of my all time favourites though I must admit Gillans voice is starting to go slightly now.I don't mind bands plugging their latest album but they really should play some classics as well, they did the last time I saw them at the Metro Arena a few years back.

I must assume they were only booked to play an hour long gig when msg2 felt let down.

Go see them, you don't know if you'll get the chance again.

"The most powerful rock gathering of the year is a fact! The legendary Deep Purple, one of the top rock bands of all time are coming on the 8th of May 2011 to give us a true taste of classic rock! They will perform with the number one Greek rock star, Vasilis Papakonstantinou! A 4-hour unforgettable rock show at Tsireio Stadium in Limassol, which will unite two legendary rock names."

Well I've never heard of Vasilis Papakonstantinou (catchy name that) hardly a legend.....

message 6, to book Deep Purple to play for 1 hour with that ticket price does not make any sense. Concert is concert. Leaving after 1 hour and no extra numbers is disrespectful to the audience.

Blimey that's a blast from the past... saw them at Guildford Civic Hall... total rubbish and very noisy. We walked out before they'd finished... sounded like tuning-up! Which they called 'collective spontaneous composition' which sounded more like several people playing different tunes all vying for attention...

You would be far better off going to see a tribute band, less money, all of the songs you want to hear and probably better executed than the original musicians that are close to collecting their bus passes.
