Im also very sorry, I have been to many turkish cypriot functions and the little girls have such a sense of rhythm they want to dance. Jeaz in the UK the major cosmetic companies do a range for 6 year old girls. It is all to do with the time we live in NOW

Once again a minority of bigoted and in my opinion hypocritical members on here spoil it for the majority.

Turkan I am so sorry that this minority has curtailed your plans, please don't let them win and I hope you will reconsider and those that can, get behind you and support you in your venture.

I wasn't referring to you Tenakoutou in my post. If you see little girls or even boys ballet dancing or for that matter belly dancing as either 'unseemly' or 'erotic' then that is your opinion. I doubt many would agree with you.

Anyway back on topic as I have no desire for this thread to close, I wish you well in your venture Turkan.

And I would like to know what I wrote in my post that AJ has decided to delete? I am in touch with other forum admins and will make a point of this unusual action! I have never been rude to anyone or expressed any offensive views. This is most annoying to say the least.

Awaiting your comment AJ!

Send me an e-mail and we will discuss it.

GinaC/Msg 9:

What I see, or think, is irrevalent - the fact appears to be that 'turkan's' enterprise appears not to have attracted enough 'takers' - so, what does that tell you about the general consensus of opinion amongst expats. as regards 'belly dancing' for children?

The other question I posed, which remains unanswered by 'turkan', is 'why not enough support from her compatriots'? Isn't this, surely, a fair question?

Tenakoutou

I would have thought it was obvious. Some of the posters on the previous thread (as per usual) managed to hijack the thread and the result is that people have stopped posting.

If you have no interest in this thread then I suggest you let Turkan get on with promoting her social activities. You have had your say.

Re : Msg 10,

I also would like to know why my post has been deleted.

In my post I expressed in a polite manner my professional opinion (MA in Pedagogics) that belly dancing is not an activity that small children should participate in.

Dancing is a wonderful activity for children. There are plenty of dancing routines especially designed for young children that help to develop their fitness, artistic talents, sense of rhythm and also bring them a lot of fun.

Belly dancing should be reserved for adults only.

AJ//Msg 13:

I have not made one single derogatory remark directed, personally, against Turkan; neither have I hijacked either this, or the last thread by simply expressing an opinion, along with everyone else.

Have you castigated those who called me 'sick', or hypocritical?

Belly-dancing is in the Turkish Cypriot culture, therefore I consider I posed a perfectly reasonable question to Turkan by asking why enough of her compatriots hadn't lent their support.

As for my 'interest' - do I not have the same right as everybody else to express whatsoever opinion I see fit?

Please explain in what way I have prevented Turkan from promoting her social activities?

As for 'having had my say' - my answer to that is that I had had my say, prior to being accused of being 'sick'.

I trust you don't find anything unreasonable in the above.

May I conclude by wishing Turkan every success with this, or any other social enterprise that she wishes to pursue.

As Aj has respectfully asked for negative postings not to put on this thread as it is on here for Turkan to promote her business, could another thread to be opened debating the pro's and con's of bellydancing, would that be acceptable??

I see now ' little girls' in the headline were replaced by 'children' . (Oh, an apostrophe is missing!)

Perhaps the penny starts to drop - slowly.

I say again, I support tenakoutou's view, " Historically" Belly dancing was a Provocative form of dance performed by adults for adults...with obvious sexual ties .....If you think that's good for children then great...
