A customer asked today if I had an increase in my old age pension. Do they go up this time of year.

Yes Liz, mine went up from 11 April. The letter doesn't say what the percentage increase is.

normally, but the £140- stuff is envisaged for those who start their official pensionable age around 2015. Those already in receipt of their pension will not get the newly thought up scheme. Why, I don't know, as most of us have paid in at least 40 years and those in future need only qualify with 30 years of NI payments. All seems a bit illogical to me, just like trying to sell the country's woods and dismantling the NHS!

pension has gone up by £4.50 if you are entitled to the full amount............otherwise it is pro ratsa. Also the tax threshold has changes you are now entitiled to earn £1000 more £74?? and pay the same tax, unless you are over 65 then it has gone up to around £9450. Take a look on the gov.org site the rates are on there.

Ooh Liz, are you talking to him or me? Don't be fickle, especially where pensions are concerned.

Thread closed because some idiot in Bavaria keeps posting!

Walkerscott, come 2015, I think there may be a test case in the courts, that sounds like the sort of 'not very well thought through decision' someone might legally challenge, and quite right too.

Lilli, I have just received my notification of the pension increase, mine is just over £5 per week, I might go on a world cruise, in my dreams.

Still waiting for official notification as to how much my state pension (due 6 July) will be. I agree with pollymarples' post No. 20 - I, too, think there may well be legal challenges to this (to me, anyway) nonsensical way of doing things.

Deniz1 - just out of curiosity, you say you have received an increased of £17 per month, yet your profile shows your age as being 54?

Think mine must have been due a few years ago saying that Jeannie, think I might try for some back dated payments...

Msg1:Yes they do but i understood that anyone person who stayed away from the UK for more than 90 consecetive days was classed as not living in the UK and therefore are not due to receive any increase in their state pension.

Roley. Think you have it wrong there, if you get a UK pension and live in NC you still get it and any increase, plus winter fuel allowance if you were getting it before you left UK.

WEF 11th April the official increase is £4.50 per week (4.5%) from £97.65 to £102.15 and if you had SERPs thats gone up by about 3.1%

You get the annual increases if you live in the EU, Tukey, or TRNC. There may be other places too.

You get a letter in late March/early April telling you what your new rate will be.

I just received mine.

The new pension arrangements won't apply to existing state pensioners, who will keep existing arrangements.

The new arrangements are planned foe 2015/16.

Geoff
