With all the sadness and trauma going on in the world at the moment, it is worth reflecting on the death of a very important person, which almost went unnoticed last week. Larry LaPrise, the man that wrote 'The Hokie Kokey' died peacefully at the age of 93. The most traumatic part for his family was getting him into the coffin. They put his left leg in. And then the trouble started.

Love your sense of humour! Of course it would have been terrifying if he had then shaken it all about!

Now this is obviously a wind up, as if the person mentioned HAD died then the comments made above would be crass in the extreme....i.e taking the pxxs out of someone recently deceased. Michael

DoctorW, That was Larry LaPrise Junior. He wrote the "Turkey Dance" a massive hit in the dance halls up and down the country in the 60's. I co wrote the "Quaker Dance" with him but it was not as popular as the "Turkey" Does anyone remember how they were carried out ? .............................. As the great John Lennon said when he got shot............Ono!

Tiggy - I frequented more dance halls than I care to remember in the 60's, but cannot honestly remember "Turkey Dance". Remember the Funky Chicken later - is that close enough

Paul, you are only a pup! Jeannie, The "turkey dance" was a slow dance and you went once around the dance floor and out the back for a Go@@le! the "Quaker dance" was a quick step and you did two circuts of the dance floor and out the back for your Oats! Paul I remember at Simbas's garden party seeing you doing the "hucklebuck" ! you have a great voice as well.
