Does the TRNC have a departmental shop (or shops) on similiar lines to these mentioned in the subject line?

If so, where is it situated?

Is it competively priced or does it operate a 'haggling system' (which I'm still trying to get use to!).

Thanks fo all the helpful responses I am sure I will receive ;)

The south has Debenhams, a couple of which are in Nicosia, a large one on Ledra Street. It operates much as a UK store would, but the prices are on the whole more expensive.

Thanks Stevo-London.

From Girne along dual carriageway to lefkosa. At the big roundabout turn left on the dual carriageway. You drive past it as its on the right hand side after about 200 yards so go to the first set of traffic lights and do a uturn. The staff are wonderful and very helpful. Dont forget to ask for a discount especially if your buying a lot of stuff.

Maqs111, that is just what I needed thank you!

I'm out to get lighting, kitchen paraphanalia, rugs and all sorts. A one stop shop is brilliant! cant wait till next week.......

just a though, do they close early any week day? We are coming from Esentepe which (I believe) isn't that near.... though 'do-able' for choice and bargains!!

mess 1 - short answer - NO

The south have a few but what with import taxes and getting the things here coupled with the poor exchange rate - many things double what they are in the UK....

Check out Lambousa market on Saturday morning in Lapta. All sorts of everything sold there for the house, including rugs.

Argos r us at Karakum next to Edener Supermarket, Electrical retailer.

Personally, the lack of the High street stores and rabid consumerism, is part of the charm of living here, if i'm that desperate, a trip over the border suffices.

China Bazar at Karakum, next to Erdener's is a great place for pots and pans and other kitchen stuff. It is quite a big shop and fun to browse round. If you visit Soyz Bar - main road at Catalkoy, on wednesday morning there is someone selling electrical goods - all well known brands, imported from UK at amazing prices. I am also there with my pictures. These are both easy for you to access from Esentepe.
