I trust all you dog owners and animal lovers will be out in force tomorrow to support KAR as they present the anti poison petition to the Minister of Environment and Natural Resources!

The more people that attend the better, so go; take your friends.... neighbours.... neighbours; neighbours....everyone!

For a start it would help if the local population neutered their animals and did not let them run lose in the streets

There are ways of tackling a problem, poisoning is definitely NOT one of them!!!!

Anyway, it's not up in the mountains that they're laying the poison, it's on the streets, dog friendly beaches and country walks, where responsible dog owners walk there beloved pets. You wouldn't be so quick to make such comments if you had the opportunity to witness a dog dying in agony from eating poisoned meat!

The other terrifying aspect is that a child could become a victim of this irresponsible act! I have a toddler and he loves to come walks with myself and my dogs, he likes to investigate just as much as they do. Which should be his right as an adventurous child, however this has ceased since I've now had 3 of my dogs poisoned and I'm terrified that my child could become the next victim.

POISON IS NOT; NOR NEVER WILL BE AN ANSWER!

Thanks Wyn.

Sorry Cyprusishome, didn't sign in till after the event.

Sorry to say that the turn out wasn't as good as it 'should have' and 'could have' been! I found out about it at the last minute (night before) and having previously signed the petition, and been through the experience of having my dogs poisoned 3 times, I was keen to show my support. I don't know if KAR advertised the event in the Cyprus Today (I didn't see it), I would like to think that the lack of supposed dogs lovers in attendance; was due to the fact that they didn't know about it.....if you all feel that strongly about it...where were you???

Did not know about it or would have attended. RSPCA are working in Turkey to try to stop these barbaric practices and I know because we belong to WSPA and have it on their authority. They are not aware of KAR but do work in the South,(same problems) and we have tried to get WSPA here but they have so many projects all around the world that they have to prioritise. People lead by example and therefore Government need to change attitudes towards animal welfare. They might like to subsidise Kar or impose rules for pet owners. They seem pretty good at legislating to tax people in order to GET money for all manner of things so why can't they act on this major problem?
