Sorry if this is already on here but have trawled through - no success. What time do the offices stay open until. I need to go this week to collect my residency permit. I am hoping that it is not a ticket and queue system as at Girne police station and you can just turn up. Also do they need all the original peaperwork and passports again ir just the blood test if everything else was accepted in Girne?

Thank you

Judyr. It is a ticket system. There are 2 ticket systems, one for the residency, the UK or other nationalities and one ticket system for the work permits, ie Turkish mainlanders. It is vital you put your names on the list as when the staff appear, they call your name from this list and issue with a ticket. There is a ticket number machine, the type you get at the deli in a UK supermarket, and it will show the next number in turn. Your tickets will be a 3 digit number begining with 5. It is a nicer seating area, a waiting room, than Girne Police station offers. We got there at 8am in February. We were 4th or 5th in line. Just take your passport, blood tests results unopened of course, your cash for payment, the stamps. These can be purchased in the cafe which is in the same corridor. I, as a precauction, took copies of all the paperwork we have to supply to the Police, just in case any questions were asked. I did not have to use them. It is a painless procedure, nothing to worry about!

Office opens at usual time, but they dont seem to get going til 8.45 (or was that during the go slow!) and close for lunch. Recently it hasnt been too busy, so dont have to wait too long. If they think theyve enough for the morning they suggest coming back in the afternoon! We got there very early in January, and really neednt have bothered, unlike previous years, we were first in the queue!! - which never got too big - people were just wandering in and getting tickets.
