Many years ago we bought bamboo from a man in Lapta. Perhaps you could enquire his whereabouts at the Muhtars or the Belediyesi in Lapta.

Hi Tigerbay when we first bought our house,an Australian house, our balconies were covered in bamboo along came the big wind and next door but one'a bamboo ended up on the top off the house all the houses where damaged ,we then changed to sails interwoven to let wind through or the green garden mesh,if you want bamboo panels most of the yapi shops sell them

If you fancy a trip to Dipkarpaz to see the beaches or antiquities and have the right vehicle, you can buy it here, probably cheaper than in the Girne area. You could combine it with a Tractor Safari! Tel. Eva 05338206798 for price of bamboo For pics see: http://www.flickr.com/photos/karpazsafari/sets/72157626399828691/

Just echoing the idea of the wind and bamboo. I have lost two of my roofs and am now on my third, but it is the cheapest way I know of covering my roof space. And a tip I learned is to ensure that it is well and truly tied down. Put ties every couple of inches or so (well maybe more). the trouble was the first one had inadequate mooring. Better safe than sorry.

We bought bamboo panels from the yapi market Il-If which is on the main road heading from Lapta to Girne past Lemar on the left hand side. They do standard sizes (approx 3m x 2m) and will also make to order.
