Having experieced for the first time a reasonable amount of rain in North Cyprus it is blatently obvious that we need to instal some stratagically placed guttering around the balcony etc. I have seen aluminium and black plastic guttering but is there anywhere I can purchase white plastic as our intention is to redecorate the villa (eventually) in white.

Thanks for that gates - Now I know that it is actually galvanised coated guttering I can take the necessary procedures for decorating this product in white or I may just use black plastic guttering to match the metal railings. Thank you for your offer to tender the work but in this instance I will be carry the necessary installation myself however your details have been logged for future reference as we are planning larger projects in the future.

We fitted guttering at the begining of the year. We searched in most Yapi markets but a lot was damaged or badly scuffed or they couldnt get certain parts, it looked like it had been sitting there for yonks!! We eventually went to the big bathroom show room down New Harbour Road just off the Pia Bella Hotel roundabout. Drive down towards the harbour gates and it is on your left hand side. They deliver for free.

Gepaz have the deep 150mm square gutter, and all fittings and down pipes, square or round.

Paint (spray) it any colour you want first to guard against UV from the sun, will cope with the heaviest downpours and last as long as you are likely to have the house, but may need a re-paint every 5-10 years, like the rest of the house.

Take care where you run the water off to, maybe run a couple of pipes well away from the house for the winter and remove for the summer.

Thank you for all your comments and suggestions they have been very useful. The temporay "runoffs " are an excellent idea that i hadn't even considered. I am back here in the summer for a month so it would appear that the planning of my next project is well under way all I need to do now is confirm where "Gepaz" is ?

KK

Best Gepaz for you to use coming from Karsi is about half mile past the Starling (the one opposite Mr Pork) on the mountain side of the road.

Very helpful in there and will usually deliver by the next day.
