I'll give that one a miss, just rang them. To open an account we have to get a new letter from the Muhtar for

proof of address. That's 20tl down the drain straight away.

For goodness sake, we have a residency stamp in our passport, why does the Muhtar have to prove where we live?

Why does the Muhtar need to approve a car sale?



Seriously though, residency stamp proves nothing, people are always moving to diferent accomodation.

We didn,t have to get a new letter just a photo copy of the current one that we used for residency

We opened up accounts Novemeber 2008 and were not even living here yet! I showed the Sales Agreement and passports. You do not have to live here to have an account I believe, so in that case a Muhtars letter would not be appropiate. We deal with Naci (male) who sits at the desk to the right of the counter. Flowerfairy, go to http://www.creditwestbank.com and click on Expat at the top. Click on FAQ and scroll down.....it says you just need your passport to open an account! Go back to them, point that out!! Good luck. Mrs Snakes.

Thank you all. Well, they've lost out this time. I was hoping to open an account as at the 112 ball, they were offering to donate money to 112 when you opened a new account.

I tried, but feel offended when every time you need a Muhters letter it costs, and he always makes me feel like he's doing me a favour.
