Hi

I have been trying for almost 2 years for the Lapta Belydesis to make good the access road to our bungalow, it is virtually impassable as it not a solid road. All I get is promises promises and promises. I'm at my wits end and dread to think what it will be like when we return again in a couple of months.

Has the access road been adopted by the municipality or is it considered private? Perhaps best to check at the office although, joking apart, they may not even have a clue themselves.

Only 2 years - you're a beginner! We are 10 houses in Karsiyaka (now Lapta) and have been waiting for a road for 6 years. Currently we cross private land on a deeply rutted mud track to get to and fro. Last Spring we got a meeting with the newly appointed Kaymakam - he promised the funds and he ordered the Lapta mayor to meet us and build our road. We got the meeting with Fuat Nimoy the next day - but we are still waiting for the road.

JJ - snap! Our access track is along the side of ravine and hill - the hill fell on it last year! Bulldozed it clear but left about a foot of soil nice and flat on top. Haha - first rain guess what, thick mud,which then rutted etc. this year another fall on another part where bushes slipped down. Bel happy to do it if we pay proportion - but it needs shoring, proper drainage channels etc and proper hard core etc etc and what will they really do - just a load of stones and some rubbishy tarmac. No chance of selling for those up there who wish to sell, or in fact let - lovely house, lovely view, shame about the road!!

georgeolly, you're in luck there is a poll about Lapta Belediyesi's service at http://www.3cyprus.com/discussion-polls-about-government-organisations-involved-in-trnc-property-problems/lapta-belediyesi/

You can also write or copy and paste your problem in the comment section.

msg1;

It is KAYMAKAMLIK, in Girne that you need to go for your road.Belediye can only act after the approval from there.

Girne Kaymakamlik is on the same road as the hospital,about 3-400 yards after on the same side of the road.

One of the belediyse guys lives in my road and we can't get it sorted.

It ain't gonna happen unless the majority of householders are TC's and have a vote.

yorgozlu message 8.

Absolutely right.

As I said in my message 3, it was our meeting with the Kaymakam that got things rolling. We are still waiting for the road but at least it is approved and the money made available.

The Kaymakam is not an elected official, he works directly for the Minister of the Interior. The Kaymakam holds all the infrastructure development funds and dishes it out to the local authorities for approved schemes. Getting the Kaymakam to agree your road is a huge step forward.
