£500 for 6 metres of tiling?????- no thanks - any tilers please?

Ersem trading wanted £500 to tile 6 metres of a little wall on the inside of my neighbours balcony.



We persuaded them to come with us to the tile shop where we bought 7 metres of tiles (spanish), waterproof adhesive and grout and a tile strip for £50. They were staggered!



They were told that the job would take 3.5 days to complete. My husband did ours 2 years ago in 4 hours and I grouted it the next day for him.



We would have done it for them but hubbies knees have gone and he can no longer kneel down.



Are there any tilers out there who would do this little job for perhaps £100. If necessary we could do the grouting ourselves.



We are so heartsick for our neighbours, they were almost ripped off.



We have recommended Ersem to all our friends and they have done about £7k worth of work for our neighbours but this is the end as far as we are concerned. How can they be so greedy? We do have a tile cutter (professional one) if needed.

İ know a professional who can come tomorrow and do it for you if you have everything ready there. he can also do the grouting aswell for you. very reliable i have used this man myself. the man is a perfectionist. just give me a call on 05428830960. thanks.

Apo does mine charges 15tl a meter and he has a tile cutter

all you need is the glue and grout and tiles i can give u his number if you want 12 to 15 tl a meter is the going rate

Have you spoken to Celal at Ersem about this? I've always found them to be very competetive and fair where prices are concerned and wonder if there has been some kind of misunderstanding here? They've recently installed a new water tank for me and the price was very good indeed. Mistakes and misunderstandings do happen here and I wouldn't want to slate them unfairly if this was the case.

Celal, you cannot wriggle out of this one, this is my neighbour and you definitely quoted him £500 for his little balcony wall doing. They rang you and cancelled the job, surely you remember.



I think my neighbour will be very happy to come and see you, although you have definitely lost the job, yes, mouth on the floor indeed, Herbert and Carol had no reason to lie about this and I was in his apartment when he telephoned you to tell you he felt that you were taking advantage of him. I was here and heard the whole exchange. I do not tell lies either.

sue maybe some heard wrong and noone lied 6 meters would be about £120 -£200 depending on size of tile in the uk so no way would a good shop like that one charge anywhere near that with out a misunderstanding.

Look we would never quote such a price and we are not looking to wriggle - nor cast insults 'if the cap fits!!!!'



Understanding your bitterness if you were such a good customer why did you not come to us and speak to us knowing from your past experience with us that we are not robbers!!!



There has definately been a mix up some where - did we come and price this job in person or was it just a quote over the phone

We stand by our word as an honest company - We would never insult ourselves as well as a customer over such a small job for such monies - we would have to be fools to quote such a price

This character assassination was posted on the 23rd of this month. It is now 27th. I am astonished anyone would attempt to destroy a well known company on a public forum, having only heard ONE side of a 'phone conversation, on behalf of two people (neighbours) who have made NO comment on this forum (did they ask for you to destroy this company's reputation Sue? In which case, you should publish THEIR full names and address also - in the name of fairness, which you imply is your MO). I hope, for the sake of Ersem Store's reputation, which until now, is clearly well thought of, that this thread is kept open until we read that this couple have been to see Celal, and the results of that meeting posted here. In my experience after various jobs both big and small completed for me and my neighbours by Ersem Trading over several years i can truthfully say that the jobs have been well done the price has been right and the aftercare that cannot be said of many traders here has been carried out without quibble.

On a personal note you would not find a more friendly, helpful team than those at Ersem. ps Even Puppy is glad to see you.

Have also served me very well in the past whilst my villa was being built. All showers and fittings were supplied by them (as the builders items were crap) and they fitted them also (included in the cost of the showers) ! Quick efficient quality workmanship and they cleaned up after their work was completed.

It's extraordinary someone would say they have often recommended Ersem, and that they have completed "£7K worth of work" for neighbours, yet in the same posting, say all they can to destroy the same man and his reputation - cyber bullying at its very worst. This, BEFORE the two adults who have the problem had gone to see Celal. (Did they ask suehowlittle to write in a public forum that can be viewed worldwide-slanderous words, attributing it all to their names)? When dealing with two languages, it is quite conceivable that either party said or understood the 500 to be sterling instead of TL. Fortunately, the board was immediately flooded with unsolicited praise and recommendations for Celal and Ersem Trading, which makes suehowlittle look a fool, and attribute her neighbours and herself, with the mentality of a school playground. I look forward to reading that HERBERT and CAROL have indeed visited Celal in person and await reading here, the conclusion from both parties.

ps, the tiling job was subsequently done by a professional tiler who charged 250 lire and Carol and Herbert are thrilled to have the entire job done for £150 rather than £500. The error was all yours thinking they were stupid enough to pay it!

Yet the first bad experience that you or a third party have of them, You vent your anger out on this board, rather confront the staff themselves, I too have been a victim of shop staff 'Trying it on', but when confronted are very apologetic and the matter is resolved, in a few cases it has been a genuine mistake.



Can you now understand just why the indiginous locals may feel anger towards the expats?, I for one would show more respect and air my views to the man, saying it to his face.
