We have Beko air con units and one of them has died!!

It keeps shutting off and is reading F6....have looked through the instruction manual and have had no joy.

Does annyone know what F6 means please?

Dont have a clue what f6 means,

and you dont give enough info, but for a stop start situation check the following.

I am presuming the fan blower inside the house starts so no problem with that and you are getting some cooling effect while it runs.,so compressor okay.

When unit is running, check the cooling fan for the condenser outside also running, and that the condenser grid is not covered in dirt, if it is ,brush away.Without the cooling of the gas the unit will cutout on high pressure ,cool down then restarts and cuts out again.

If you have a loss of gas a similar will occur, the unit starts up, runs for a bit while the compressor pumps the gas to inside your house, there is not enough to feed the suction side of compressor and it stops on low suction pressure.

If it is HP cutout the compressor will be very hot compared to just hot,(handy if you have another unit to compare). You can correct that by cleaning grid ,hopefully fan is okay.

For suspected lack of gas,call

Sorry puppylover, forgot to mention.

Check the unit in the room ,that the air filter is also not dirty, this can also cause the unit to eventually cut out on low suction pressure, rather than shortgage of gas.

Sorry not an expert just working knowledge ,have worked on a/c in past but usually large rather than domestic, tho not really my core occupation,

Also quite hard to give advice when cant see unit. For example you can also check the compressor is working by feeling the pipe into it and the pipe out, should be cool in and hot out ,if pretty similar then compressor valves could be damaged.I was just presuming you are getting some cooling before unit stopped,

Tell us how you get on

Has the guarantee run out on your unit, if not contact Beko

yes, but still clean the filter and grid first, because if you call them out under the guarantee and the problem is that, then you will be charged the full rate.A dirty filter/grid is not a fault. If they are half decent and you are under guarantee then they should tell you what to check before they send someone.
