Visit the Central Bank in Lefkosa (near the Turkish Embassy just past the Girne/Kyrenia Gate)

Why don't you just withdraw your money if you are worried about the bank. The Lefkosa branch is opposite the football stadium. I went there last week to withdraw money for a friend and no problem.

The main branch of Continental is opposite the football stadium and near the bus station. If you want directions let me know.

Do they have a limit to what you can take out in one visit?

Just to put some new information regarding Kibris Continental Bank.

The details in the above posts are correct.

The Bank DOES look closed from the front but go around back and up to third floor and they are open.

The guy that used to work with Tyra in the Girne branch is now working there. There are currently 5 people working there, one speaks reasonable English. They 'think' (they have no definite answer to this) they will be open until around the end of June at which time the bank will cease to exist and all accounts will be swallowed up by The Central Bank. The money in those accounts is 'safe' and can be accessed by visiting the central bank with your Continental Bank books. They are still able to pay out money at the moment so if you wish to close your accounts (which I did) then it doesn't seem to be a problem. I withdrew some sterling (I had to go back for it the next day, which I completely understand) and TL (which they kept in branch).

Hope that helps.

Hi Baxi, sorry don't know exact hours but 'I think' it's 8.30 till 4 at the moment but from 15th of June it will be 8 till 2 (don't think they close for lunch)

Yes I think any amount of TL (well within us mortals amounts anyway) for REALLY LARGE amounts I would guess you would have to wait.

With sterling i would think a days wait (like I did) is probable.

They are still answering phones so if you need definitive answers then call them.

Hope that helps.
