To anyone who may have to claim against there holiday insurance company in the future do not be put off by the tactics they will employ to get you to drop your claim. My daughter and I persevered with our claim against AXA,went all through there dispute procedures and eventually we said we wanted to go the Ombudsman. They even tried to say we would not win if we took our case to him, eventually after3years the case was placed in the Ombudsmans hands. On Monday my daughter had a call from the Ombudsmans office asking her what she wanted out of this claim and she told them they money that we had lost and an apology from AXA.Another call yesterday to tellher she would be receiving the money we had lost plus 8% per annum for the 3years ithas been going on and a written apology from the company. So if you have to claim persue it all the way despite what tellyou and you will win in the end.....

Kav..certainly was.The annoying part was that Isubmitted a claim to myown insurance company using duplicate copies of all the necessary paperwork and my company paid me for my loss inside 2 weeks. My daughter is over the moonnow looking to book a holiday, needless to say will not be using AXA....

The loss adjuster can often be to blame when insurers are or seem over careful with pay outs. (I have had that happen more than once; having to fight like stink for the payout.) Insurers do tend to be careful. you can't blame them, they are in business to not lose money. I could give you a number of examples of clients trying to file claims that were not right and even being asked by other people (when they found out I'm in the travel trade) how to best "make the claim look good" when it was blatantly over inflated or they had taken no care of their possesions at all. The claims that are fraudulent make it far harder for those of us with legitimate claims to get the help we have paid for.

fligghtholiday..I agree with your comments about people trying to con insurers, but this not the case. when you follow all of their guide lines and instructions and you submit written medical reports from doctors and specialists stating my daughter was tooill to fly you would think that would be enough. to drag it out for 3 years was deplorable, this being borne out by the Ombudsman,who,within48 hrs of receiving the paperwork sorted it out. they seem to think if they pressureise you long enough you will go away and I believe Izzet said that in his post. But we are all happy now Justicehas prevailed in this case....
