We have a large swarm of bees just at the back of our house. They seem to be swarming around the pine tree and a tree behind. I do not want to harm them but I want to discourage them from hiving(not sure of correct term) so close to my back door. I am allergic to bees in any case and have to use an adrenalin pen if I get stung. Any advice greatfuly received. I thought about lighting a BBQ very near by in the hope that the smoke will move them on....

The swarm has now settled in the pine tree just a few yards from my back door. They have formed themselves into a ball, larger than a football. Has anyone else experienced this and if so what have you done?

Crikey, Judith, we had a swarm fly over us a couple of hours ago, that was in Lapta, heading

Karsiyaka way.

Busy little bees aren't they?

We had a massive swarm of bees buzzing around outside our house in Karsiyaka last week. Luckily enough they eventually moved on so hopefully yours will too.

If you need a swarm collecting e-mail me alison@sunnycyprus.net - Dad keeps bees and can come and collect if they're reachable with his ladders..

Still here this morning and all seems calm. Just a huge ball of moving matter with the odd bee buzzing off here and there. Let's hope they are not too comfortable and that they will move on be this evening. If not then I will certainly contact you Alison, unless of course your dad wants them in any case?

100 ft? that is over 20 floors up, you would not be able to see them.

The best way to move them on is to burn something below them with lots of smoke. They will soon move on.

Had a swarm of bees descend on my villa in Catalkoy when I was out over Easter. They made a home inside an olive tree and there were 1000s of them! Called the Beledeyisi who came out and sorted it all out! Good luck!

They will never stay as a swarm on a tree for long. Just waiting until the scout bees have found a new home and then they move on again. They only have enough food in their stomach for 48-72 hours then they must find a permenant shelter to start storing food again. Glad they are no longer a problem for you.

in future just get them to use shorter trees or cut down the tall trees in your garden it is then easier for the bee keeper to catch them, its simple,
