Reading about the snake bites today we are thinking that we need a vet closer to home in case of an emergency. Which is the best one on this side at the moment??? Many Thanks

I've gone to Garfield's in the past and found him very good.

Opposite St. Tropez restaurant on the main coast road, just past 5 Mile- Beach. On the left is an excellent Professor Veterinary Doctor .

So good that when I took my chihuahua with a popped eye to her,all she did was to give him an injection,anti-biotic cream and sent us home, when all along we were asking her to push it in and sew it,via internent, where -+20 days later his eye'd have been good again.

Sadly,we took him to another vet after the weekend and he operated on him, couldn't save his eye though.

She told us our very old pure-white Angora boy had a fungal infection in his ear when he really had a tumour - in the end he lost his ear, and then his life..

The vet I took my Leo for operation asked why we didn't go to him earlier. He was gobsmacked to find out where we had taken Leo,but couldn't say anything since she is his professor.

All I can say is that,I'm glad he is 100% better vet. It's just that,at a time in dire straits we stopped at nearest one.

Yorg I did the same when Bertie had his accident. She was the nearest one. We couldnt even go into the clinic, told to wait outside and leave Bertie in the car. She came out to the car and said no broken , stapled his leg, whilst he was in the car and sprayed Iodine on it. The poor soul was in agony. Took him to the one by pine bay, told he was in shock, again nothing broken. They both missed he had a broken hip. Never again will any of them go to these vets.

Tugsad at Petrium in Lefkosa maynot be very local to Lapta but he is the best for miles when it comes to orthopaedic problems. He's actually bothered to seek further training in Turkey and the UK rather than think he knows it all immediately after qualifying as a vet. He has very succcessfully saved one of my dog's life and another's leg following some local 'butchery'. Sadly no names due to the vaguaries of the trnc legal system.

Tugsad was recommended to me by a German gentleman and thank goodness he did.

We recently we found out that most of the vets here went to vet school together. So i know who was top of the class and who was bottom, but i am not telling. They are not all the same, make up your own mind but for the sake of your pet don't just use a vet because they are closest.

When my dog was poisoned my vet Firdez was operating on another dog and could not see him. We did the best thing we could have done and took him to the nearest which was the one in the big house on the left, main road Alsancak. I have to think he saved his life. While we were there another dog came in been poisoned and he worked on the two of them together. I haven`t been to him for anything else so cannot comment on his capabilities but I know I have to thank him for my boy still being here with us.

If you have a snake bite - time is of the essence and I do not want to waste time travelling - there must be one good vet this side surely?

That depends on how knowledgable the vet you go to is.

Pertev is the only one i would consider and he is in Girne.

The vet near Pine Bay Club has always been good to us, even on a Sunday when our dog was poisoned.
