| Harmonization with the EU acquis communitaire has gained momentum in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Within this framework about twenty laws will undergo radical changes.
A special committee has been established in the Republic’s Assembly in order to take up draft bills immediately which were prepared jointly by the EU Coordination Center and EU officials. |

| The Head of the EU Coordination Center Erhan Ercin has described the workings of the Coordination Center as ‘a revision of the entire state structure’.
The EU coordination center which operates with 14 personnel under the Prime Ministry prepared some of the harmonization laws together with state officials and EU experts. |

| This is an extremely interesting development. Could this mean a huge about turn in the laws that discriminate against expats i.e the end of PTP, the introduction of property laws that actually protect buyers and the much needed update of the legal system?
If this is genuine the repercussions could be massive. |
