Five of us went for a meal last night at Patina Gourmet to celebrate our friends Wedding Anniversary. Patina had always been excellent, but since the change of staff and chef rumours suggested the standards had fallen dramatically. In spite of this we decided to try it for ourselves, and don't know where these rumours came from but 5 of us experienced an excellent meal, the staff were polite and attentive at all times. We sat in the garden for pre-dinner drinks and given canapes of different cheeses. Given the choice of dining inside our out we decided to dine inside. Pre starters we were presented with olive bread and rolls to accompany the olives, tomatoes and hellumi. Although the menu did include favourites such as steak, lamb and fish, the menu was not the usual and was difficult to decide what to try. The presentation of both starter and main courses were delightful . We will certainly be back.

Allanon, I could not agree more this is one of the nicest places to eat ignore the rumours and find out for yourself thats my motto, it's like another thread started recently damning Shayna beach club, but Shayna gave their side on that so it threw a different light on proceedings (drunk & obnoxious brits ?) All credit to Patina a-la-carte, their food is delicious and staff attentive, and it is not too expensive for what it is we are going next Thursday evening and cant wait

Yes Patina is very nice and the food on the whole is excellent although like anywhere in North Cyprus it has it's ups and downs. It is a lovely location and I do enjoy eating there, service very good too on the whole.

Hi all, We have tried Patina's at least ever year since it opened. Our experience on these visits was at best okay to downright dissapointed. That said we tried it again two weeks ago and had a much better time. GOOD POINTS Beautiful reception lounge with lovely warm log fire which was just so welcoming. My Wife had the cheese sufle for her starter and the scampi for main, in each case the presentation and taste was perfect as good as any restaurant anywhere. My food was to a very acceptable standard. BAD POINTS Waited far too long for a drink. Waited far too long for the menu Once ordered through the executive chef we then waited over an hour before being shown to our table (there were only 8 customers including us) Once we arrived at the table the starters arrived which meant the beatifully presented oil dips and lovely bread were never sampled, a big dissapointment. IMPROVEMENTS WHICH WILL COST NOTHING Get restaurant tables that do not squeak and mo

Continuing message 6 move about. Sort out the manpower deployment "to many chiefs and not enough indians" Get your guest a drink within two minutes of arriving together with the menus Sort out the time tables in the kitchen to ensure each guest can sample the dips before the starters are served. Provide decent coffee (people will pay") what is the point of enjoying a first class meal only to be offered a cup of cheap instant coffee as "Top of the Bill" We are back out in two weeks and will certainly eat at Patinas again with just a little effort and a good manager Patina could become an excellent restaurant perhaps indeed the best in NC. regards Doug

4 of us went on Easter Sunday. Starters and puddings were fine but main course for 3 of us was on the menu as gammon. Well this was pork which had never seen Gammon but was so overcooked it was almost impossible to tell what it was supposed to be. The vegetables were good but then at the moment with what is available here it would be difficult for anyone to get wrong. The price was much more expensive than the normal Sunday lunch but it will be a long time before any of us want to return. There is far better at much less cost in our opinion.

Always found Orhan to be a great manager at Patina and it was lovely to see him at Midsummer House being his usual efficient and professional self. INMH Midsummer tops Patina these days.

I must say we used to love Patinas, then it changed hands and the food was appalling. This was within 2 weeks of it changing and we did say we would give it another chance. When we went clearly there were severe problems in the kitchen and as someone said previously too many Chiefs and not enough Indians. The two waiters were rushed off their feet and the food was stone cold when we received it upstairs. However, downstairs the "management" were clearly ;looking for something to do. Having said that, we will give them another chance and hopefully they have improved. You can't say more than that can you? Tango1
