Walking down the road by the castle in Kyrenia yesterday and 3 police were booking every car parked down there with a fine of 65 TL.

There are double yellows down 1 side, but they were booking the cars parked on the other side as well where there are NO double yellows.

There is 1 no parking sign as you enter the road on the side of the double yellows and the only No parking sign on the other side is after you go under the archway to the harbour.

As usual they are making the rules up as they go along.

I always used to park there when in town, but No more.

.... and people don't like it when I take the matter to court whenever I see any illegality or loophole in the law. To their credit, they have amended the law and repaired one of the loopholes I used in the past. Good for them. There is a need for people like me to keep them unbder check.

Summer is around the corner,what is wrong with trying to keep the town centres clear from cars?Especialy when there is a car park few hundred yards away for 2 tl for a whole day!

I parked my car/van outside my shop in UK for years(pedestrianised),with no traffic warden ever questioning it,and one day one of them put a ticket on it.I paid the fine and never parked there again.

.......in TRNC;

I parked my car outside car park in Nicosia(no room in car park and no lines outside),few months later I received court orders for 8.30 am for X date,arrived on time,wited till 10.45 outside,then went in and told the judge about app. time.He told me,he'd call me when ready,I said I don't have anymore time and walked away.Still waiting!

I always use car park round back/side of 1001 shop...3tl the other day...really nice chap collecting the cash and tries his best to get you a space. I find this spot handy for most visits to Girne.

I was parked there all day yesterday and didn't get a ticket, one side is all double yellow lines, on the other side the castle side you can only park half way up the rest is double yellow line as well, think you will find it was here that the cars were being ticketed. There is only enough space for about 8 cars before it the double lines start.

Thats it then, the boat owners will be up in arms as a lot of day trippers use the fort road to park on.
