We have tried the Green Palace twice - since we live in Karsiyaka.

We have been very disappointed each time.

Mediocre food and poor service.

Would not go again.

chriswife .... Meze is a selection of tradtional appetisers, which are either cold or hot dishes. If you choose to have a full meze then you will be served cold starters which include Humus, Tahin, Cacik, Beetroot, Samarella (dry cured lamb), Crab Salad, etc and others depending on what is fresh in season. You will then be served a selection of hot meze which will include Hellim, Mushroom, Sigara Borek, etc, etc.

If you still have room you will be served a continuos array kebabs hot off the bbq. These are served slowly so you have a chance to breathe and walk around the lush gardens to make room for more!!!

I highly recommend it

re message 9

First time was just after it opened - the steak was bland and overcooked and chips were previously frozen, it was simply steak and chips.

Second time when four of us went the garlic mushrooms (x2) were sliced tinned mushrooms in water and no garlic at all - and the T-bone steak was thin and had almost no fillet on the other side of the bone. We sent the mushrooms back but the staff had a "don't care-less attitude" and were not concerned enough to ask if we wanted a different/replacement starter.

I have to say paul90, why go to a meze house and eat steak when there are so many placesthat sell reasonable steaks

Paul90 - Sorry to hear that you had a bad experience. I am actively involved in the restaurant and make a point of speaking to all the customers, whom are mostly british, and finding out what they thought of the food and service. I have to say that I have never heard anyone complain.

The only thing I can suggest is that the move had some teething problems maybe with staffing

Steak is a dish that is ordered very very often at Green Palace and the restaurant has a lot of regulars that come a few times a week.

We would love to see you again

I to go to this restaurant frequently as it is local. I could not bring myself to say that the Meze is exceptional, it is not. (At least the last time I tried it, maybe two years ago). The steaks usually are very good. I try to go there at least twice a month but sometimes they have deafening music or DJ or something and I don't go then. They need to decide if they are a serious restaurant or not. they now have a chef but the menu remains the same, where are the specials that a chef would create? If they want to become a music hall then have the speciality fun nights but for me if you wish to become a noted restaurant, then all you have to do is select your market, ie. Local or british, and provide great food at a reasonable price and don't spoil the broth by overcharging for the drinks. You would be full everynight.

We visited the Green Palace on Saturday evening for the first time and chose not to have mezes for a change We opted for the mushroom starter (yes it was sliced, tinned but plenty of garlic). We didn't really need it as main meal of steak was substantial and hand cut chips. Wine was 5tl cheaper than most other restaurants we had visited. Desert, coffe and cyprus brandy was on the house and we enjoyed the whole occasion enormously. Surroundings and views great! Will be back!

The restaurant is in Karsiyaka. When you get to the square on the main road, turn up towards the village. You will come to a T Junction. Its sign posted from there.

Otherwise give us a call we will be happy to give you directions. 0533 8604804

We went again last night. Different meal with 2 friends. 1 of us had prawns. 3 T-bone steaks. Delicious.

Thanks to everyone.
