we just bought a new mattress, and are both waking up during the night with back pain! So now we are considering buying a mattress topper for it and was hoping that perhaps there might some recommendations on here, where to shop for one and how much to expect to pay. The mattress that we bought was slightly above mid-range and is supposed to have an integral memory foam layer, but for 3 weeks we have both suffered and not slept well.

Persevere for a while. When we bought our Tempur matress I suffered badly with my back for 6 weeks. It could be your body adjusting and realigning to the correct sleeping position. I wouldn't be without ours now and really suffer when I sleep on an ordinary mattress.

thanks panchocat, i just think that the memory foam layer must be so well hidden, because the mattress is like sleeping on a bed of bricks. ideally we could like to buy a memory foam topper for it as dont really want to pay for another new mattress! such a shame because our old mattress was so comfortable and we only replaced it because it was old...regretting it now!

Tinkie, We have a topper on one of the beds but couldn't get another here so we put a duvet on top of the mattress instead. Works a treat and is very comfortable.

Simbas. We use it through the summer and find the Tempur no different too an ordinary one with the air con on. Maybe we are cold blooded! You can also buy a polar topper(Keep cool) for Tempur mattresses, not sure if the Karakum Tempur shop has them. We also have a memory foam topper on the spare bed and everyone says how comfortable it is. Tinkie have you tried Karakum Tempur for a topper?

Tinkie, We also found that the tempur mattress took a little getting used to. It surprises you because they are sold as an aid to back problems. Perserve as they do feel good after about two weeks. But I did get back ache to begin.
