Hi, Looking though previous posts I noticed that the only place people have suggested to buy solar garden lights from is Mr Pound, and they said that the quality was not that great.... (batteries not lasting etc...) My father in law has a shop in Lefkosa, selling Solar Garden Lights called Ar-cim (www.Ar-cim.com ). He has sourced some very good quality decorative garden lights, shipped from UK and further afield. If you are looking for top quality products, please feel free to visit our website and view our products online, or come and visit our shop: Şht. Mustafa Akdeniz Sokak, Akmal Apt no:1, dukkan 4, Yenisehir, Lefkosa. We can deliver on the weekends, AND/OR arrange to bring a few products for you to view at home for those who can not make it to the store, and are considering making a purchase. Please call me if you have any questions. My name is Soraya and my number is 05338226616. I am English so nothing will get lost in translation Thanks x

Just realised... for those who don't speak turkish.... to view our products on website... click on URUNLER tab, and click down the side menu to view. We have also begun advertising on KIBBAY (in english). Some of the lamps really need to be seen to be appreciated.

Hi Deniz1, The shop is in nicosia by the municipality building. The website has the google maps link if you click: 'bizi bulun' link. Basically, coming from Kyrenia, take a left from the Lefkosa roundabout towards famagusta. By the 3rd lights (which should be right by the Honda dealer) take a right towards Nıcosia bus terminal, On the second roundabout (which is right next to the terminal) take a right. And take your first right right after 'sik prenses' to find it in from tn of you... My mother-in-law usually sits at the shop, who is a pleasant lady with little english... But if you give me an approximate time/date I can get there as well for translation purposes...

These are almost the same price as their equivalents in UK... SBDP 02/03 costs at around 85-90TL if I am not wrong. They have 5 mounting options... |

Hi, SBDF-03 is 35TL including VAT. (2 Pack) SBAHCE-02 is around 420-450TL/ SBAHCE-01 I will have to ask to my husband... There is also some discounts for multi-buys for bigger projects... Repellers: We currently have rat repellers for indoors in stock (90TL), which is also used by the British Ministry of defense. It is guaranteed that they work by the supplier... Some housefly repellers for indoors and rat repellers for outdoors are on the way... The house-fly repellers we are still testing, but they are difficult to assess since we can't make sure when the flies escape on their own will or when they are really forced out .. But we noticed that they do go away when we use it in a 20m2 area, so we are bringing them for small rooms. Also some mosquito repellers that can be used for 'personal protection' (It is a small device) are on the way.. again we are trying to test these, but the mosquito season is not quite here yet.

Hi MikeyCBBR, I agree with you completly, the website should and will be in both English and Turkish. All our other marketing material is already bi-lingual (flyers, advertisements etc...) and we are currently working on the English version of the website as we speak. My father-in-law is Turkish Cypriot, which is why the business and website were originally launched in the Turkish language. I myself as a frequent browser of Cyprus44 for all of my need-to-know knowledge of North Cyprus, could not help but mention our products (albeit prematurely of our english site) as I am all too aware of the reach of this site within the British community, both in Cyprus and at home Realising the market potential of the English speaking community is now at the forefront of our marketing agenda and I would be most grateful to here from anyone who has any ideas or constructive critism that may help us in reaching out to our potential customers. Thank you for your post, Soraya

Hi astonhilbilly, Re: "SBAHCE-02 is around 420-450TL/ SBAHCE-01 I will have to ask to my husband" First of all let me apologise for not being specific in my answer before. Both of these products are relatively new lines to our business which is why I was unable to be precise earlier today. I have checked with our supplier and the SBAHCE-02 is confirmed to be 410TL+VAT. We are still negotiating a price for the SBAHCE-01, in order to get the best deal possible for our customers. We are having a meeting with the supplier later this week and should have a conclusive price by the end of the week. In the mean time if you would like to know any of the specifications of the above mentioned models, or any other products I will be only too happy to help. Soraya

| astonhilbilly, Hi, the VAT for this item is 16%, which works out at 65.60TL The specifications are as follows: Height: 2.2metres, Lamp head: 28cms*28cms. 29 warm white LED's, inbuilt PIR sensor (can be switched on or off), the lamp post is made of strong, light weight aluminium, which is powder coated. Light sensor allows light to turn on automatically at dusk and off at dawn. The lamp post irequires assembly. We personally tested this light in complete darkness and found that we were still able to read our brochure four metres away from the lamp. This weekend we have any time after half two on Saturday or anytime Sunday. We don't like to charge for delivery, however depending on distance we may ask for a small fee just to cover petrol. | Hi Soraya Sorry, I went on your web page and realised that SBAHCE-01 is the lampost with two lights not '-02'. If that is the price for a single light, what is the total price for the twin lampost? |

astonhilbilly, Thats ok, As stated before 'We are still negotiating a price for the SBAHCE-01, in order to get the best deal possible for our customers. We are having a meeting with the supplier later this week and should have a conclusive price by the end of the week.' As soon as we manage to negotiate a realistic price I will let you know, hopefully by friday. Ordering is required for this product, but so far the suppliers have been great, and turn around is pretty quick. I will post as soon as I have details. Thanks

Astonhilbilly, Sorry for the late reply, it's been a very busy day for us. We now have the price for the lamp that you asked for. SBAHCE-01: Price: 785TL + 125.60TL VAT = 910TL TOTAL This lamp comes with 2x 3W LED bulbs. (this is approximately the equivalent to 2x100W filament lamps) The lamp is specified to illuminate a circular area of about 6-9m radius. (approx. 113-250m2 of an area) It has a 20W solar panel, 12v/12Ah battery. It will be lit up for about 8-10 hours on full charge. The lamp post is made of Aluminium, and it is 2.5m high. Estimated delivery time is 10-14 working days, (depending on customs), and 50% deposit is required before dispatch. We can reduce the price to 890TL for large quanitity orders... Thanks Soraya

Price price price...somehow... annoying... why nobody asks technical questions??? eg emitted "luminous power per W" or do they have a "Flux reduction"...is there a "programmable low battery disconnect". For all of you... a 100W filament lamp produces approx 1000 lumen (in terms to be compared with LED) The best LEDs available can squeeze out 100 lumen per Watt, and with that we are very close to the physical and technical possible. 3 watt LED are therefore a max 300 lumen, but 150-200 lumen are more "the reality". or, other way round.. to replace ONE 100W filament bulb with LED you would need to have at its best a 10W flooder, if it is a "bulb", you need MINIMUM a 15W LED bulb.. to achive the required 6-9 meters radius you would need 30W. plus far bigger accumulator, far more PV power and so on. not to say a proper charger. Full stop. Similar systems at http://www.europlussolar.com (NOT my website)

"Price price price...somehow... annoying..." Maybe annoying to you but very relevant to anybody trying to work out the costs. If you are not prepared to be open about the costs then there's a possibility your business will not flourish... Tell us how can we compare value without costs.

Groucho, to compare value you should know what you (want to) buy, otherwise the price says (more or less) nothing... At least you know now a little more about these LEDs and where else you can buy these (not the Mr Pound type) solar garden and street lights. Not from me. Maybe it did not come to your attention, but my pricelist is open to everybody...here... http://www.kibsolar.com/price_list.html And if you want to compare... dont worry, i will help you...

Dear Kıbsolar, During the renewal of the website, the script I have written to automate the process had a bug in it. Regretfully, I uploaded the website without thorough testing of all the pages. The script took info from a file for SCADDE-01, which does give out similar lights to 2x100W. (see http://www.ar-cim.com/SCADDE_01.html) and put it into the SBAHCE-01 page. This is a common type of glitch which happens in many new websites. I appreciate your efforts to correct and will fix these bugs as soon as humanly possible... For your concerns about the technical details. I will quickly list a few topics for your consideration. The human eye has a nonlinear nature, which makes it difficult to distinguish between consecutive illumination with different intensities. The effect of lighting depends heavily on the surrounding of the lamp (reflectors). ....continued......

Together with the above, there are conversion issues/ gray areas when comparing LED lighting directly to filament, especially when you are out of the lab in actual lighting scenarios. Besides, many people who are not engineers, are simply not interested (rightfully) in understanding lumens, wattage or flux reduction. Hence, we consider giving approximate details to people looking to buy garden lights, so they can have a “feel” of what to expect when living around the lighting in their gardens. For custom projects however, we do of course work with full technical details when creating lighting solutions for our clients. Technical info. is available to its seekers, and those seeking technical information can call me directly or can email me at info@ar-cim.com, (likewise with the unconstructive critisism comments...) ....continued....

| What I know I will tell you and what I don’t know I will learn and tell you. I prefer to answer what is asked honestly to the best of my knowledge, rather than spurt out technical jargon in an effort to demonstrate or prove knowledge and/or lack thereof in others. Because, I believe this will get us nowhere... We at Ar-Cim do and will continue doing, all that is necessary to achieve and maintain a high standard of customer satisfaction. | Groucho, Prices for these products change with the wattage requirements. Please inform us of the application (what you intend to use it for etc....) so we can give you price details of suitable generators (and technical details if you so require ;-)) Please note *Price will also change with depending on quantity ordered. | Dear Doctor Arca, fair enough, but sorry, this is a forum.... and when soraya "tells" here something, then it might be that "somebody" knows this better, or at least a bit... but please do not call this " unconstructive critisism comments ", or blame me to "... spurt out technical jargon in an effort to demonstrate or prove knowledge and/or lack thereof in others....". Anyway, MY customers, whether they are engeneers or not, whether they are interested or not, WILL have an (basic) understanding about wattage, lumens and programmable flux-reduction and some other things as well, because i need to have them happy. Of course... we too do "...all that is necessary to achieve and maintain a high standard of customer satisfaction. ..." What else? Peter |

Dear Astonhilbilly, Our pricing is now online for SBAHCE-01 at http://www.ar-cim.com/SBAHCE_01.html . The error mentioned above has been fixed. I have also looked around, for a lamp with similar power, it goes for around 1000-1200TL. The amount of light, I want to say around 30W filament (though you cant really make direct comparison) if you wanted it to last pretty much all night.but for around 6 hours of operation on full battery, you could boost it up to an equivalent of around 60W (again this is a very approximate value), though I wouldnt really recommend this. it is high up, so you wouldnt want to read under this lamp for a long time.but it is ideal for dinners and etc. If you wanted something of higher light output, and wasn't bothered about the aesthetics, I would recommend SCADDE-02 (www.ar-cim.com/scadde_02.html), where the power would be around a 100W filament. we also do custom designs if you supply me the details (info@ar-cim.com ). sorry for the delay, been swamped with work

Dear all, Our new site is online with english language selection option from the main menu...(still being tested though, so I appreciate any constructive criticism, especially about what to add, or missing details etc..) http://www.ar-cim.com or http://www.ar-cim.com/index_en.html directly to english You can find our current garden lamps from there (SBAHCE-01, 02 and 03 http://www.ar-cim.com/SBAHCE_01_en.html). We seem to be under the average price for solar garden lamps. (In both functional lighting and decorative lighting) We also design custom solutions, if you tell us what you need at info@ar-cim.com

Elektrokur offers solar (light) systems? Yes, I do miss someting on your website, Dr Arca. It is the slightest hint about your manufacturers. You offer PV- modules, charge controllers, accumulators, LED light systems, DC pumps. You offer "off grid" and "semi grid" systems, so you need to have Inverters... and control equipment... all nameless.... And of course, i believe at least Groucho want to see more prices.... to compare...

Dear Kıbsolar, Thanks for your suggestions.. I am taking it step by step. Now that the English site is on for the lamps, after I fix some bugs, I will continue to put up more prices.. Bear in mind that our prices will reduce as the size of the project increses. About manufacturers, as you have noticed, that section of our site is still at the introductory stage. Rather than putting a mere list of prices and manufacturers as a table, I have a much better idea that I am working on. Hence I left it to the very last... Just be patient...

I know nothing about the above and it's all gobbledegook to me, however, in order to avoid all the confusion that appears to be being caused, would it have been better not to have gone public on a Forum such as this until such time as you had ironed out ALL of the glitches (or as many as were evident), particularly the English speaking version. That way you wouldn't have to spend all this time answering peoples queries. A price structure would, at least to me, be one of the first matters to iron out, closely followed by technical specifications. Just a thought. Tango1

Tango1, I am thoroughly enjoying the questions and the whole process. It is very stimulating and inspiring for me. This forum has many people with critical minds, experience and something educated and descent to say that can make a difference.I appreciate all the comments because they are all indeed making us better. We didnt necessarily go on to this forum as a solar systems suppliers. Our website was intended mostly for demonstration purposes for our garden lights. Since people seemed interested in it, I decided to make an english site as well. This is a process. You set something up, share and shape it up according to your customers feedback. Nowadays, people are asking for solar panels and inverters etc through the forum. We were planning to do such designs on receiving the specs from the customers from our email. But if that's what they want, that's my next step to put up. I wish I could see all the questions beforehand. I shall keep your advice for next time..
