Can you buy duty free cigarettes at Larnaca to bring back to the UK. I tried to purchase some in Milan ( Italy ) 2 weeks ago but couldn't, as they said not from one EU country to another. stevie-d

My belief is that as Larnaca is an airport within the EU the answer to your question is No. Same as Milan. I bring some over from here, still cheaper than duty free, and import into the EU via the border for personal use. If you are sensible with the quantity will not be a problem, I have never been stopped when using a taxi to cross the border.

You can buy cigarettes at Larnaca but as the post above states you pay more as you are staying within the EU. The cigarettes are about half the price of UK. At least that's what my mother-in-law says.

Stevie... yes you can buy duty free at Larnaca as msg 3 says. Price per carton is about £29 per carton as opposed to nearer £60 uk price. It is only the uk that stamps down hard on the rules and will not allow you to buy duty free when leaving for another eu destination. Also be awareof licquids rules if you are IN TRANSIT... huge scam or an enjoyable task for the jobsworths :-( Hope this helps... Joseph
