Re message 9 - Erkan, I would be grateful if you could clarify the following: 1. Which sky channels can you get with a 2.4m dish? 2. Do I need a Sky box to receive them? 3. Can I pick up the BBC/ITV channels that I can currently get through my Sky+ HD box in the UK? 4. I am thinking of eventually bring over to Cyprus a new TV that has FreeSat built in - What would that pick up, could I receive Sky channels through it? 5. What benefits would I get in bringing over my Sky+ HD box? Hope these questions are not too complex - look forward to your advice. Many thanks in advance.

OK, I'm not Erkan: 1/ 1. Which sky channels can you get with a 2.4m dish? - Most of the HD channles ( not BBC) and most SKY sub stuff - you will not get any signals from the Astra 2D satellite which broadcasts a lot of BBC / ITV / C4 stuff 2/ Do I need a Sky box to receive them? Only a SKY receiver and SKY card receives SKY stuff. Any receiver can receive FREESAT stuff with a well tuned / built 4.2m 3/ Can I pick up the BBC/ITV channels that I can currently get through my Sky+ HD box in the UK? - with a well tuned / built 4.2m 4/ FREESAT built-in receiver cannot view pay TV SKY.. only unencrypted channels ..e.g BBC / ITV/ C4.. Five IS encrypted, currently 5/ hat benefits would I get in bringing over my Sky+ HD box? .. none.. bring it.. the record facility is great -as 9pm TV is 11pm in CY and you will fall asleep ! ;)

Hi Mark - thanks for the very detailed information in message 14. I guess in points 2 and 3 that you really do mean 4.2m and not 2.4m. Personally I would be limited to 2.4m. If I placed the 2.4m dish on the boundary wall of our property would I be able to run two cables from it - to my TV and to the TV in the house next door, both about 25 metres from the dish - and still get perfect reception? Final question - with the 2.4m dish and Sky HD box and Sky card would I be able to receive Sky channels without paying the subscribtion that I do in the UK? Thank, Paul

Re Msg 15. Do you mean receive the same channels free that you received free in UK? If so YES. Do you mean get the channels free that you used to pay for in UK? If so NO. Sorry to be pedantic, but must be sure EXACTLY what you want, don't want, and are prepared to pay for, in order to give advice, Geoff I find 2.4m dish is fine. We can get ITV1 on it as well as Ch4, Ch5, More 4, E4, BBC HD, but NOT BBC1, BBC2, ITV3, ITV4.

Hi Coffer. Thanks for the info, but Iceman's info is a few years out of date. It's not his fault, even Sky's own website cannot agree on what channels are on what packages. They even have different names for the same channel. I was hoping there was someone here who has a SkyHD box with a 1.8 dish who could help. This site: http://www.lyngsat.com/packages/skyuk_chno.html looks good, but it shows that there are not too many HD channels on the "south" beam. Regards PC PS. Iceman fitted my dish.
