@ msg 1, LaptaGeezer: I bought a catapult in the Mr Pound shop in Girne (left in the main street, leading to and near the big roundabout). Ammunition (against the pigeons): frozen green peas. If they bounce and fall down on the terrace the dogs will eat them.

Re : Msg 6, I trust you also have a trebuchét or two (every gentlemen should have a decent collection) : good for hailing tomatoes – my dog adores them (especially green ones)!

Come on lads. As former readers of the Beano we we should all be capable from the age of eight of making one of these bad boys ourselves.

@ msg 9, Clarissa2: (...) I trust you also have a trebuchét or two (every gentlemen should have a decent collection) (...) ▶ Na Clarissa: my garden, surrounded by an ambans and cadefalcs, is full of trébuchets, gatas, cats and mangonels! (La langue d'Oc, the language of the Crusaders also spoken in Cyprus by the Lusignan dynasty and the other occupiers from the Holy Land and the Third Crusade). Hmmm, this brings the thread off topic, which should be or maybe is against a forum rule...

Re : Msg 13, Excellent, I wouldn't expect of you anything less than that. Re : Msg 12, Absolutely! My menfolk organised catapult production on industrial scale in a hut. Even I own three: one for work, one for home and another one - my Sunday's best!

The quality of the rubber is usually poor so best to have one brought from UK after purchase at a fishing tackle shop. Local ones may last a little longer if always sheltered from the sun but if taken to the limits of their short lives, a swollen, painful, thumb seems to be inevitable !
