Attention North Cyprus Free Press and 3Cyprus Forum victims of attack

At the moment both North Cyprus Free Press and 3 Cyprus forum are down. I have been informed that they both were the victims of massive attacks yesterday and due to pressures of work, the editor/owner does not anticipate them being up and running again for a few days.



This attack coincides with my being informed that the Legal team working for Kulaksiz 5 have allegedly received Writs for Libel against Akfinans Bank Limited in the two most widely read Turkish lanaguage newspapers on the island. If I were paranoid I might think the Bank will not be satisfied until they have total silence form ALL press. Not accusing, just ,making and observation.

I am a Luddite but my understanding is that the attack was of the same nature as the one that took out Cyprus

44 in the past.

It was a massive DDOS attack and so I am in the process of sorting out a more secure host for NCFP. But, the show must go and and so for a while we'll be publishing at

The observations made by many media platforms are beginning to have an effect and that is good. Well done to NCFP and 3CF and to the courageous TRNC Advocate Boysan Boyra who has shown he has integrity by proceeding against those who represent what is so wrong in the country.

Judging by the response times of CY44 right now - I'm guessing it may also being attacked.. but is now behind a better firewall on a dedicated server ..

That would not surprise me at all - strange it should be happening just as Talatkursat updated their webpage and surely would need to be employing 'experts' to do that - not that I am suggesting it is anything other than a complete coincidence..................................................

If they were not so effective, the attacks would probably not have happened. I can understand how disillusioned people must feel when they have made the maximum effort and seem to be getting little support. Let's hope for a good outcome tomorrow.

▶ Mal, it may not (only) be a lack of interest - there's an information overkill. Scanning all (Northern) Cyprus bulletin boards etc for interesting news will take you hours every day. Cooperation should be the name of the game: I wish for ONE big board or web site with all and serious news about (Northern) Cyprus. I grant all board managers their toy, but the result is what we have now - too many boards and web sites with fragmented news and little interest.

DutchCrusader, I agree with you and would welcome several like-minded and free-thinking individual to come together to form a commercial online newspaper which could afford the £2000pa+ needed to stop DDOS attacks. I believe the "Cambridge University Arms" is currently under attack.

Meanwhile NCFP will specialise on TRNC property and justice issues even if it only pleases a few hundred people. Although http://cheguffawa.wordpress.com is a bit of a mouthful I can see no reason in resurrecting http://www.northcyprusfreepress.com and have it attacked again. For those who didn't know, that was the address of NCFP from August 2009 until January 2010.

Lilli, the only thing that disillusions me is the amount of effort compared to the return. The DDOS attack meant that the company that was hosting NCFP would not allow it to stay there. Without paying the sort of money that Izzet has paid to run Cyprus44 I can't see NCFP surviving except as the fairly protected but limited http://cheguffawa.wordpress.com - the money would not be justified

I think NCFP is unique. That is not to downplay how important C44 is and North cyprus forum is. Each is different and special, to loose any would be a tragedy.
