What will i need? How long does it take and what is the best way.

It will probably take 3-5 working days. You really need to get your cousin to give you the full IBAN details. Take care if you do decide to carry that amount of cash onboard. I was interviewed by Customs at Stansted for having £10k with me.

Sorry, cant help you with the bank transfer procedure, but if you are thinking of taking the money in cash, you will need to be careful, as the customs have a limit you can take out of the country, I think its 10k. Its that money laundering thing.

If you want to transfer to HSBC here then get the IBAN, if your cousin has online access then the IBAN can be obtained by selecting the Account Summary Information of the appropriate current account (GBP, I presume). Using the IBAN can save on transfer costs - also you can usually save costs by doing the transfer online.

Repro,

You will need the account details and iban number.

The Swift code is also required.

Go to an Abbey branch and they will do it on screen for you.

This will then be printed off for you.

They charge £25.

thanks everyone for the info.

I have spoken to my cousin, he is getting me the IBAN and other details as we speak.

hope the funds dont just vanish into the ethos!

Abby have already told me they Chrage a £25 fee...do HSBC charge anything on the other end? Or what about Turkey, as essentially the funds go VIA turkey HSBC then on to TRNC HSBC?

I have transferred from HSBC here to Nationwide UK via online banking without charge but don't know about the other way. When I've transferred money here to other banks there has always been a charge at this end.
