Travelex have introduced a new service for doing this. Go to: http://www.travelex.co.uk/uk/send-money-now.aspx for information. You can send up to 2500 Stg for 99p for their 5 day service or 7GBP for a 2 day service. Could be of benefit for anybody still paying UK bank's ridiculous charges for overseas transfers.

Sorry message 2 - what has the dire postal service got to do with this?? Travelex are using the banking system for these transfers but at a much lower cost than the usual rip off UK bank prices.

Good idea but in reality not sure how competitive it is . Exchange rates given are much lower than you would get out here. For example: If you wanted to send £2500 to Turkey in TL - Travelex exchange rate is 2.4431 = 6107 TL If you just sent £2500 sterling and exchangesd money out here, current exchange rate is 2.54 = 6350 TL The difference is 243TL (about £96). So unless your bank charges more than £96 for a transfer, then Travelex is more expensive. Travelex also limits you to a maximum transfer of £2500. Paul

Message 4: TRNC banks are Turkey, not Cyprus. Message 5: I agree that the exchange rate is not brilliant but it is just another way of getting money here rather more quickly than some of the other means available. Some of the routine transfers to banks here take rather a long time e.g. Jersey to Iktisat Bank - 6 weeks! Isle of Man to Guarantee Bank - 4 weeks and aggravation beyond imagination!
