| This is an extract from a press release; Announcement of Holiday and other Short Stay Visa Waiver Programme Mr Alan Shatter, T.D., Minister for Justice and Equality announced on 11 May 2011 the full detail of a holiday and other short stay Visa Waiver Programme – Ireland’s first formal visa waiver programme. Full details of the scheme were announced in the Dail. Work on the scheme commenced shortly after the Minister’s appointment and follows intensive consultation by his Department with tourism industry representatives. The detailed scheme announced is an integral and central part of the new Government’s Tourism policy and Job Creation Initiative. This waiver programme will apply to any person who has been granted a holiday visa for the UK and will mean that such persons will not have to apply for a seperate Irish visa. It specifically targets CHINESE and RUSSIAN nationals but will be extended to all. So 6ms Mark you may have been listened to after all!!! DD |
