Hi all, Staying in Alsancak soon. Escape type beaches are my worst nightmare. Can anyone recommend quiet beaches within 15 miles, no music or banana boats. Sandy with bar and loo if poss but not essential. Don't mind paying as long as I'm not ripped off! Thanks for your help.

If anyone did - they would no longer be quiet beaches! Try the Mare Monte beach, signposted 100 m further than the golden lady junction to Alsancak. Has everything you asked for above...

Hi there, depends on how quiet you mean....we do quiet too, the quieter the better, no hotels, no sunbeds etc. If you head off towards Lapta from Kyrenia and beyond to where you can either turn off to go round the peninsular or straight on over the mountains......go over the mountains and turn off right towards the coast......I cant remember the name of the bay you want but it is a protected turtle area and there is absolutely nothing there apart from one lonely taverna which was being newly built last year...............I am sure someone here can give you the name, you have to drive down a very long bumpy road to reach it but it is well worth it..............

Most quiet beaches will be full of rubbish and litter unless you pay and agree to be ripped off! you will have to sit amongst the c**p but there will be no banana boats or music! just rubbish!

Sarduna Bay in Karsiyaka sounds up your street - lovely clean Sandy Cove, great beach bar and restaurant selling cheap (but good) food and drink, plus lovely people that work there and run the place. Head out of Alsancak and go past Lapta, about 2km past the JK BAR/SEMPATI turning you will see an effes sign on your right that says "Sarduna Bay" - turn down there and head to the sea. G

Message 4, so what was it that made you buy here in the first place, there must have been something that you liked about the place or did you just hope to make a quick buck.

Rowlo is right, you must explore!! then you have your 'own little beach'. there are so many lovely coves and if there is rubbish it takes no time to clear, it's just rubish from the sea, not smelly stuff left there by people. The Karpaz has so many of these, but I'm not sharing my favourite either. Only the one on the tractor safari. If you are interested in a day out to the Karpaz, Tractor Safari will take you to a lovely beach, no loos but no other people either. sometimes donkeys, goats...

Head east of Kyrenia - before you get to Alagadi there is LAra beach. 2 bays and a small taverna - all very nice, sandy beach, sunbeds and shaded area. They charge YTL5 for a matress for the beds - so great value as well. Re Msg 4 - The beach is kept very clean by the owners of the taverna - there is no litter, just nice sandy coves and crystal clear water. Great snorkling areas as well.

The beach is raked every morning at Shayna so it would soon be sorted out. And there is a night watchman there.
