Just wondering if anyone living here has successfully grown a Bramley apple tree.

I don't believe that Bramleys would grow here - too hot, they like a cooler climate. I did, however, buy some Turkish origin cooking apples a while ago from the supermarket near to Ercan (Urulku?) and they were very good. Would be worth asking a tree specialist here what might be suitable.

Hi, we have been trying with Bramley seeds for ages and ages with absolutely no success. Lots of other things have worked perfectly but alas not the Bramley apple. Perhaps it's the Karsiyaka weather/wind!

If you do find out how todo it please let us know!

we have one in our garden, it was brought out by friends and we transplanted it last year. We have lots of blossom at the moment but we do give it lots of water.

There is a large variety of eating / cooking apple available in ROC, they look similar to bramleys, are large and quite wide and squat (sorry can't remember the name). However, most apples prefer cooler climates, most of the apple production in the ROC is in the Trodos mountains where the temperature is much lower. This particular variety tastes like the old style apples we all long for here!

Bramley apple trees, we have three we brought over from the UK just over 3 years ago they were 2 years old.

We were told we also had to have a Crab apple tree and another one that l do not remember the name of at

the moment, to pollinate the bramleys.

We brought them back at christmas that year and the following year we had 2 huge apples on 2 of the trees. Last year we only had one tree with one apple.

When l was looked at them this morning there are groups of 4 and 5 small apples. l have taken some of the off, if they do continue to grown they are too close together.

As has been said already they do need a lot of water. My husband waters them first thing in the morning and after the sun has go down in the evening. When we planted them he put a drain pipe right down in the hole he had dug leaving about 6" of pipe sticking out of the ground, then put the tree in and covered it with soil so when he waters the water goes down the pipe to the roots.
