North Cyprus appears to be encouraging more and more gamblers to come as hotel occupancy levels hover in the 20 to 25 % level according to official figures for this year. The tourist officials appear to have given up on enticing tourists from Britain and Germany. If this is sucessfull and more and more gamblers come maybe the EU will think it is better to have the TRNC in the EU fold. WHO KNOWS?

The casinos here have always supported the hotels they are in. The casinos have to guarntee every week a certain amount of rooms that they will rent. They have to buy food and drinks from the hotles for their guests too.Without the casino industry here on the island many of the hotels would have closed years ago. Every friday you will see all the casino representatives at the airport picking up customers. Many of the bigger value overseas customers will never come here because the level of play is too small

Two bored casino dealers are waiting at a craps table. A very attractive lady comes in and wants to bet twenty- thousand dollars on a single roll of the dice. She says, "I hope you don't mind, but I feel much luckier when I'm bottomless." With that she strips naked from the waist down, and rolls the dice while yelling, "Momma needs a new pair of pants!" She then begins jumping up and down and hugging each of the dealers. "YES! I WIN! I WIN!" With that she picks up her money and clothes and quickly leaves. The dealers just stare at each other dumbfounded. Finally one of them asks, "What did she roll anyway?" The other answers, "I thought YOU were watching!"

I have seen a braless female dealer loose her top while clearing the layout on a roulette table. Not one customer even noticied. They were all too interested on the winning or loosing number

Perhaps the TRNC will become the Monaco of the eastern med? A sunny place for shady people! Personally, I feel that it may well become a mini las vegas - for brits not so far as US - get through the immigration a lot quicker, more hard currency coming into the TRNC as well as hotel rooms and other facilities being used. It could be, that in a couple of decades, the situation will arise that we may never have been able to have afforded to buy our homes here; the demand will be that great!

Looks like from todays news the casino's are on a win win situation if you cant leave the country with your winnings you may as well play till you bust. Casino's may be good for the hotel industry, but do nothing but make NC look more like the wild west than it is already. D.N
