Might I suggest you type in a keyword such as "satellite" in the google custom search box near the top of the page. There have abeen a great deal of discussions on here about the systems and I believe another might just cause another on forum dispute between competitiors or other interested parties.

re msg 1, PompeySmiths If you want non subscription Eng lang tv you really only have two options: 1/ Nilesat system - a 1m dish ( needed for when it rains - those fitting smaller are 'naughty' ) - mostly US Eng lang content - with Arabic ads and subtitles) but lots of free films {MBC 2,4, Action, etc] OR 2/ 'SKY' ( one off payment for freesat from SKY card) with a good, well - installed 1.8m dish You'll get ITV, BBC sports ( incl F1 ) and concerts via the red button, BBC News 24 , Radios 1-4, SKY News, and a few other channels - if you come out occasionally, get one of the new mini HD ( non recording) receiver from SKY.. it fits in a large ladies handbag and you'll get the package channels you pay for in the UK - HD channels ( not BBC) normally work well on a 1.8m You'll get BBC1-4 and C5 and Channel 4 and much more via a 4.2m dish without a sub or freesat from SKY card

I was thinking of buying the Nilesat sytem. How much should I expect to pay, bearing in mind I would want someone to do a good job and be reliable if anything went wrong with it. Thanks

I have asked this before but didn't really get it sorted so here goes again. I had Nilesat installed 18 months ago and although the picture quality is very good we cant get many english programs, a few news channels and thats it, 1000.s of foreign speaking channels but no English. Having spoken to others who have Nilesat they seem to get a good number of watchable programs in English but we can't. My question is (and I am no brains with telly stuff) will it be a simple case of re aligning the dish to pick up a different signal ?

Turtle If you are receiving the signal from the Nilesat satellite then you should be able to receive the same channels. maybe you just need to retune your set top box. The main english speaking channels are: BBC News CNN News Fox Series Fox Movies MBC 2 & 4 (MBC 1 & 3 occasionally show english language programmes) MBC Action MBC Max Al Jazeera News Dubai 1 Good luck Paul

Paul All the above channels are there but scrambled ? When you select the channel it just says either scrambled or no signal received ? BBC World News, Al Jazzera and Press news comes through ok but little else. Think I need to get the sat man in to check it out :(

Turtle, all of those channels are FTA (free to air) What kind of decoder do you have, if it is a generic one you should be able to just auto find the channels and they will come back.

We have always been happy with the system. Spider,X |

Satellite companies suggest a many extensive programming ever. There have been some-more heavenly body stations accessible with some-more ceaselessly being added. You can select from a single of a customary programming packages which embody a vast series of stations. You can additionally supplement featured item programming to embody some-more of a programs which we enjoy.

Message 12 - mmmmmm Who am I recommending? If you refer to the ad above the thread then it doesn't give a company name, it isn't any phone number I recognise, nor have I ever had a Nilesat service.
