We are now supplying and fitting cyclonic pre-filters to swimming pool systems. Cyclonic pre-filters are fitted after the pump and before the filter. The water pumped through them is spun, rather like in a Dyson vacuum cleaner, and the dirt particles are separated from the water. The pre-filtered water, now 90% clean, then enters the sand filter for final filtration. This means that the sand filter needs backwashing much, much less often than before, saving both water and chemicals lost through backwashing. The pre-filter requires no electrical power as the cyclonic action is created by the pumped water.

Gizmos???????? Our pre-filter is similar and works on the same principle. Price is dependent on size of pool and installation costs. Payback time depends on size of pool, what you pay for your water and chemicals used. Typically, it should be between 1 and 2 years. There is also a "green" aspect to this which is difficult to put a price on.

I expect the price for your pool to be about 350 pounds, supplied and fitted. Regarding payback time, please re-read msg 5.

When you consider we have to buy them in the UK, get them here, pay the duty/tax, fit them AND make a profit (we are NOT a charity), I don't think it's expensive either.

The real saving with this filter is not so much the water saved in the reduced backwashing, but the chemicals in that water. Although backwash water should be recycled, whatever is backwashed away will be replaced with raw water which will upset the balance until more chemicals are added.
