Kittyfun Thanks. I think I will take your advice. Just thought there maybe someone on the forum that this sort of thing had happened to them and what the outcome was when they reported it. Bob

Bob, If you want to claim against your insurance I would think you will need a police report. Chris

Apparently you must not move your car after any collision and report it to the police.

Someone hit my car head on as she was driving on the wrong side of the road whilst talking on the phone. The police were called but she moved her car to the right side of the road and i got the blame!! Unbelievable

Bob, Same thing happened to me when I left my car in the car park of a supermarket. I contacted my insurance company and was told I didn't need to report the incident to the police here as they would not be able to investigate as I would not be able to supply any details of suspects or witnesses. I was just asked to write a statement stating that I left my car in such a place at such a time and what the damage was. The insurance company took photo's of the damage and the car was repaired within 2 days. Although that was my experience, I would check with your insurance company to be on the safe side.

I was parked at the lemar car park about a year and a half ago about the time when we had the floods etc...and it was raining heavily Anyway, ran in done some shopping, came back out again ran to the car and got home. Its only when I got home and the rain had slowed down that I noticed someone had slammed into my paasenger side door then left. Contacted my insurance, they took some pictures and the car was repaired, NO need for any police reports. However that was on a fully comp policy and a year and a half ago

Messages 7&9. Exactly the same happened to me. Also with Steve in Lapta. Small report to him with the details and gave me a note to the bodywork shop. Most impressed with the service.

Thanks for all your replies. Think I will just report it to the insurance and take it from there. Bob

Don't involve the police .. A friends car was parked outside of a villa on the road .. A big 4x4 from a villa almost opposite reversed into the car .. The police came & both parties were fined .. The 4x4 driving without due care .. Friends car for parking illegally .. Pointing to 2 cars further down the road, are they parked illegally .. No replied the police .. Only if they are involved in an accident .. If they were not parked there .. No accident ..

Last month I parked in a public street outside a restaurant near the fire station in Kyrenia. Bloke gets up from a table where he had been sitting with the owner, shows me a TRNC police ID and says I have to move. I point out I am parked legally on an unrestricted street. I also point out five double-parked vehicles and his own police car abandoned at a junction and creating a hazard. He then tells me the boss says I can leave my car there after all. Corrupt, dishonest, useless shower of f*cks.

Zoots, perhaps I am unfamiliar with the grouping term "shower of f*cks" if there had been 2 policemen and a restaurant owner would it still be classified as a shower or would that be a "procession of tw*ts" Forgive me, what I meant to say was, what on earth does that have to do with insurance ?
