Good to see the Turkish flag appears to be missing from the castle.

message 2 zoots:

sssh, don't remind them, or they will immediately install one!

or even two: the trnc banner, as well as a red rag to your "bull"

at least you are very unlikely to ever see a blue eu flag:

as president sarkozey definitively remarked in a 2007 interview

turkish eu membership is "inappropriate" (sic)

let's say zoots, you are "successful" in your campaign

to make some of the ex-pats or tc's uncomfortable or angry

but what is the outcome, we may well ask:

will it destroy property investment in the trnc?

unlikely, as in most other places in the med it is moribund,

except for the hard-nosed professionals looking for bargains

will it persuade turkey to cast away its investment in the trnc?

maybe the island-born tc's will rise up in favour of south cyprus?

perhaps you are belling the cat over the north doing a reunfication

deal, and turkey meanwhile overcoming all french and german

resistance and being invited into the eu?

...it wouldn't be so bad if you genuinely believed all of the stuff

you type, but I remain to be convinced:

to me, it looks like a hate campaign unlikely to be consumated

Pugwash: "Of course you would prefer the Greek one wouldn't you."

Get serious. I've said many times the only place for foreign flags in Cyprus is over embassies.

You are kidding, aren't you?

andre msg 6,

You should know me better than that. It's not a "hate campaign" in the slightest. It's an entertaining and light-hearted attempt to redress the balance on a forum where many members are, shall we say, educationally challenged about the history of Cyprus and incapable of rational discussion to boot. Very easy to manipulate, in other words. That's why so many of the poor fools were shafted left, right and centre and in some cases are still asking for more.

Anyway, three cheers for whoever managed to tear down the Turkish flag. It has no place on any castle in Cyprus as I'm sure you'd be the first to agree, DC.

Msg 10 - interested - 'the history of Cyprus'.

not your personal view - the truth.

▶ As a regular visitor of the castles in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus I was never annoyed by the flags of Turkey and the TRNC (Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus). And as you may have guessed: I'm not going to discuss my point of view - i.e. not with you.

dc,

thanks for a very nice photo of buffavento,

I have still to visit there

it seems to me that kantara is less visited,

being in the "wild east" of the province

but the place seemed a bit less precipitous,

and as our american cousins would say,

there is a lot of "history" thereabouts too

DC for Zoots,

"@ msg 11, "zoots": (...) the Turkish flag. It has no place on any castle in Cyprus as I'm sure you'd be the first to agree, DC. (...) "

Then why do we see the Greek flag everywhere in the RoC ?

On all public buildings and sometimes without the RoC flag.

These castles are so gorgeous, the scenery up to them is simply lovely. We visit these castles every time we are over, and never get bored with the old history of them,.....

Take a picnic and binoculars, the peace is outstanding...
