Coming from Tatlisu over the mountain road drive straight to the bottom just opposite the big petrol station this brand new road continues to progress at an amazing pace, another fantastic great plus point for the East.

A great opportunity for shops and a number of busineses will probably be placed along this mainroad which when finished will connect straight to the Karpaz.

For any one using this new road from Larnaca airport to Tatlisu way it is certain it will reduce travel time to possibly 20 minutes. ''Just great''

It has amazed me how quickly all of the new connected roads now connect from Famagusta , Ercan, and Larnaca reaching the Karpaz and all villages on its way.

Just Brillant news !!

On a Turbo injected broomstick perhaps.................

Me thinks a bit longer than 20 mins.

I do hope those who rely on good information on here get a second opinion.

I like new roads.

Rowlo obviously they have not witnessed this brand new road, def not a dirt track work started back in Feb this year, In my estimation could be completed late this year, if the road works continue it really is amazing and really good news, and will def cut travel time down time from Larnaca airport to Tatlisu !!

pipie - road travel expert! what about the roads in msg 7? what is happening there? Why is 'the mountain road closed' from the junction to the main tatlisu roundabout?

BTW - you still are on the 'old road' from getcicale(excuse spelling) to dortyol(again spelling) - full of potholes/dust dirt etc.

Msg 11 - think jock was on the new 'main road' heading east from tatlisu which is great - not a new beaten track(at present)

From previous closed thread - Jock - this road!!!! is no where near yesilkoy - you are on the main east road.

Pipie is on the 'shortcut' from getcicale to dortyol road - heading to where it connects to the main Lefkosa / gazimagusa road (apologies for the misspelling)

Pipie - what traffic congestion is happening around 'your' area now?

Oh please, I have just traveled it coming back from Larnaca, it is a dirt track, the "old road" cannot be seen for the 2 inches of dried mud deposited there by the earth movers, it has emergency edge markers to tell where you are and at night it is a complete liability as you have to slow right down to try and see which of the 3 (will be soon) carriageways you are on!

It MAY be a super new highway one day, cutting at least 5 minutes off the journey, when it is finally opened, but at the moment as other posters say IT IS A DIRT TRACK and nothing more, your speed has to be reduced for safety, so drive it with care, especially at night.

Dont you just love it when people give absolutely useless information, and to suggest 20 minutes from Larnaca to Tatlisu, - well

I dare say pipie is not in the TRNC just now and is bored and just wanted to post something - nothing wrong with that is there ? hence she would not know that the junction is currently closed at the end of the coast road where it joins the Tatlisu - Ercan new road, as I found out today when going to The Blue dream supermarket from SWB

Crikey !! Just for the record at present it takes me over an hour to reach Tatlisu from Larnaca airport. I would say that when this new road that is under construction is finished it will make by Journey around 20 minutes shorter as long as no speed limits are put in force.

Either way this new road under construction is another plus point.

confusion apart..the road i drove the other day was along past tatlisu.driving on past caplica....further on you come to a y on the road, the right takes you to bogaz..the left says road closed..took the road that says closed..drove on ..its a beautiful drive along the coast..the last bit of the road is not complete but you can still drive through it takes you out to yesilkoy..and up to the new karpaz marina...i think its going to be a very popular drive the scenery is excelent.

The original stretch of road (before the current work) took maybe 15 minutes to travel. Unless it is going to continue the other side of the main road down towards the crossing, you will be lucky to save 5 minutes.

Jock that was the road I thought you were on. Once finished it will open up the whole of the east side - great scenery and save a lot of time heading to the karpaz

Anyone know (out east) if the road works are still going on at the main junction of the mountain road.

Pipie,is this a magic road?

How on earth can it save 20 minutes on a journey from Larnaca to Tatlisu when all it does (when finished) is shorten the journey by about a kilometre.

Re : Msg 25,

Ditto.

" And the road from Magusa to Bogaz - disaster ! "

Quite.

By widening the road (what was the need anyway - hardly any traffic there) , they've cut into the beach so far that in some places they practically destroyed it. (And we are talking about one of the best beaches on the island - its pride and joy!)

Monstrous!

A. never ever be fooled by how a road looks.

B. ask if the road company works well with a commitee

C. ask if the road company has won the tender to manage the road.

D. ask if the road company is open and transparent shows detailed accounts with offical receipts TO ALL OF THE USERS

E. ask the road company if there are any court cases againts them pending.

F. ask if they have a service level agreement/constitution/contract in place.

Well done Batterboy it appears you now have come to the crossroads and appear to have seen the green light, what ever you do steer clear of the junction, that holds some learner drivers up, stay in the fast lane, on no account do a u turn AGAIN !! learn from your mistakes, you will have the cats eyes to guide you, learn from those who have a hard shoulder, and remember to steer clear of the weak bridge, focus on driving with due care and attention, do not be caught out as before regarding the blind spot, keep focussed, now all is behind you as you look in your rear view mirror

The long and winding road leads us toooooooooo

Have a good evening !!

Evasive as always - no answer to direct question(s)

Take it you are enjoying sunny england just now.

You have no idea what you are missing far east now!

better make some calls!!! OR keep up to date! Things do progress even when you are not here

I highly recommend a conflict resolution meeting for all those parties involved in the childish 'banter' above.

I started to read the messages as the original suggested it would be of interest to me (Estentepe area) ....but what a load of tosh!

I'm left not having gained anything from this thread other than utter amazment that adults can behave in such a manner ....................

if you are all bossom pals and the 'banter' is light hearted joking betwixt friends .... great, but for those of us who try to use the messages to gain information it is quite frustrating as its nigh on impossible to remove the wheat from the chaff .

sorry to moan.... :(

Pipie, do you know how many miles of new road there is going to be? At the moment, although the existing roads are not 100% perfect, there is nil traffic on them and one's average speed on this section is very high, well it was till the mud appeared.... I live as far away as Tatilsu, in the other direction once you hit the cost road, and cannot see how a couple of miles of "new" road will make any appreciable difference to the journey time.

Had a run out east today - took my flip flops and wellies as suggested on another thread!!

Beautiful run although not a lot of progress on the 'new road in progress'. In fact worse due to the rain yesterday.

Came back the coast road and saw a 'new' sign and a 'new' road for Sea Terra past Tatlisu.

Did not go down as is not yet complete but should make it easier for these people and probably Sweetwater Bay.

A lot of tarmac getting spread out there now.

The "new road" towards Bayermudu from Tatlisu is coming on well, the 10kms stretch from the petrol station is soon about to get its first coat of tarmac.

Its nice to see the road from the petrol station back towards Tatlisu has now been all linemarked

Just to give everyone a 'realtime' update on the new stretch of dual carriageway, it is getting its first layer of tar just now so it should be open by the end of the year
