You quite righty state that Pike has been a "member" on this forum for about 6 months.



What you forget that Pike and many others use multiple log ins and has been on this board since its inception.



In addition I know from experience that he has been around on the many forums on Cyprus North & South for the 4 years I have been posting, plus had property here since I believe 2001.



If you look back across this forum I am sure an analyst would find many more personal insults against Young Pike compared to any other single individual. It is in my view quite hypocritical for everyone to support "Poor Wyn" when he is equally culpable in his personal attacks on others.



Personal attacks on any individual are wrong and if any single instance can be proved 100% then the forum management can do something about it.



In the mean time, I am afraid all this thread does is demeen what most have praised Izzet for recently.

Allow me to respond. When I saw that Pikey was thrown into an excetia coated cell at Strathclyde Police Station, I was telling the truth. When I say that despite showing his warrant card as A Special Constable, his colleagues still locked him up.I was stating fact. When I said that he posts under multiple names, it is a matter of fact. When I say that he has been thrown off other B/Bs it is a matter of fact.



Now then when Pikey cannot win an argument, he resorts to personal insults. He makes disparaging remarks about my education (without any knowledge) He claims that I drink to excess, without any knowledge of what if anything I drink.



It may help if I can put the record straight. I have been self employed most of my life in my wholly owner Companies. I have employed at one time over 250 men. I have held multi million pound contracts with HSBC, British Rail Engineering, Lucas UK to name but a few.

I have done it the hard way! To quote in modern parlance

I have begged many times that we do not go for the personal insult option, I have been ignored. I continue to state that posters on this board, do not wish to be involved in personal squabbles. He disregards my pleadings. If he cannot win the argument, he turns to personal insults. I FIND IT DISTASTEFUL. What options do I have? Stop posting on the board, and allow myself to be bullied off, as so many before me have? Or lets the TROLLS take over.



Now if anyone is going to tell me how to handle myself, it is certainly going to be someone

with a little more about him than Mr Campbell Thomas (or whatever he seeks to call himself today.



In summary I try to post matters of interest to board members, or of light amusement. I try to contribute. I do not try to pick on other members postings, and rubbish them. I try to be

constructive. This last two nights it has proved impossible, so to so.

PP has been posting on various forums in the trnc for at least 5 years that I know of. Like wyn he is avery intelligent person with very strong views. In particular the Cyprus situation and the GC land issues. Most members of this and other boards resent his attitude to the land issues and therfore he is constantly at loggerheads with these posters. I find his posts informative and sometimes quite amusing, I think it would be sad if he were to stop posting here. However I really do feel that the personal insults should stop. The Banter is great but the personal attacks are not. Lifes too short.

I went to agricultural shows, tractor competitions, the lot.



But not any more, that part of my life is over, I've had it with tractors!

This may be considered as part of BB life which in most cases I treat as same. However on occasions some take it over those bounds. I have been subject to same and resigend accordingly from said forum.



I am sorry to say that Young Pike does not offer a threat to you but does ask questions? If you are not able to satisfactoraliy answer these questions then maybe your hypothesis is wrong. Where has all that happy, fun, banter gone? This is really becoming a depressing forum! Ukturk recently said that it was not the forum it was 9 months ago and I would have to agree.



We will always have differing opinions but lately this forum has been more about scoring points than discussing and debating Cyprus. Anyone that fails to agree with some of the stronger more vocal posters seems to be ridiculed and every attempt is made to "shut them up"



I am lost for words. If we do not start showing each other respect and challenging differing opinions in a more constructive way it will simply become another "topix forum"



It is impossible to like and respect all the posters on this forum but lets at least try to be civil to each other.

Unfortunatley karakum5 Young Pike is not the only one on this forum with several login names, if he has of course. It is a fact of life on all forums that some people like to cause hassle, have fun or whatever by doing so.



Therefore if mods were to check on Pikey they would also have to do the same with several others.

Unfortunatley this is not helped by moderators joining in with the mob, maybe if they took charge in an even handed way this forum would work fine. I appreciate that being a mod is a difficult task but to take on the role requires a certain level of equanimity, like it or not both sides in this thread leave a lot to be desired on occasions.



It is all very well championing one person but when that person is also guilty at times of over stepping the mark with no public condemnation it makes a mockery of the moderation of the forum. So to get this forum back to what people are shouting for then there requires a lot of will from all sides.

Singling out ex.pats is a bit rich! Read other forums and I think you could expand your comments to include Cypriots and other nationalities. Actually, the human race in general.



I am not sure if my comments should be on this thread or the other one (about PP) but as he is mentioned a few times here, I will use this one.

I find PP very informative as I do members such as ILC and Aussie. I also find him amusing. Yes, he is a WUM too and very good at it. He throws the odd insult but so do many other members on occasions. Nothing wrong with the odd adrenalin rush! They are words, not deeds! ''Sticks and stones''. Chill!

I wholeheartedly agree with messages 79 and 81. The vast majority of posts on this site are informative and helpful. However, if anyone feels this is not the case then perhaps it is time to either get over it or move on. We are all adults (I think) and we all have a choice.

When I first joined this site I thought from the outset that Wyn was a bit of a enjoyable stirrer,that has been confirmed to me by this post.

Now when there is a foul, it is the referees job to call the offender to heel. If he fails to do so then the game becomes unruly.



If the game continues, then the team is relegated to the second division.

i know on other forums people from cypriots to expats argue and abuse each other, but im talking about this forum and we all dont want this forum to become like the others, and this forum has at least 90% expats on here, and recently most of all the sujects results down to bickering and the quality of the thread goes so what do you think this portrays?

im not sure if you read the forum before you joined but last year it was of a higher quality, not saying its bad now but it seems every subject turns tit for tat

and i agree i do find some of it quite funny but it does wear a bit thin after a while, why you do you think the older members hardly post anymore, i suppose the more popular the forum becomes their will be loads of people from diffrent wlks of life with diffrent views who will conflict

dont get me wrong i like to debate and joke around and enjoy the banter and still think its a helpfull site with some colourfull charaters on here lets hope we dont loose that

Sorry but you referred to the 'ex. pats. society'. That, to me, is a generalisation and not related specifically to the forum. In any event, why anyone would make a judgment of a particular nationality based on a forum is quite beyond me. (I am not suggesting you, by the way!) I do find the 'Brit. bashing rather tiresome on occasions, particuarly as it is based on the odd comment and the odd 'action' here and there and shold not be regarded as indictative.



I do agree with you that name calling is rather infantile but to lambast one person for it is ludicrous! My perception is that most of the comments are 'tongue in cheek'. Having said that, we have moderators and any comment they find unacceptable can be deleted. I appreciate they cannot continually look at every post on every thread but then it is down to the individual member to report it. Surely if the 'offender' continues, appropriate action can be taken.

Yes, I did look at the forum before I joined and I toke part becasus it was informative and and amusing. Whether the quality has changed or not is very much subjective. I personally think the quality is still there.
