Hi moving to Lapta end of August and renting a property. I wanted to know your advice please about setting up Sky. We have Sky here in UK, so should we take our box 9Sky hd plus) with us when we go? Thank you.

Hi Becky123 If you already HAVE SKY and will keep a UK address / bank a/c - then you can try to keep the package going Iceman is THE man to contact for getting set up with a dish... you DO realise that you neea 4.2m - if you want BBC ? With a good, well-installed 1.8m you'll get ITV and most SKY HD channels - but you won't get ANY BBC - other than News 24 and BBC parliament - on a 1.8m - you CAN use the red button to get loads of sports / concerts and if you bring out a sky box - without a sub - you can use it on the same dish !

Hi, thanks that's really useful info. Yes i did read about the 4.2m dish - i think we may have to sacrifice BBC because of the dish size and expense! Do you know if it is more cost effective to continue subscription here or to set up something when we arrive and bring box without subscription? Thanks again

http://www.satellitecyprus.com BUT, don't go spending any money on big expensive dishes at the moment because the 'Karen Murphy' case is likely to change the way that Satellite TV companies operate throughout Europe and in the not too distant future, SKy may be available on a little 90cm dish, meaning that money spent on expensive 'big' dishes will be wasted. Google "Karen Murphy Premier League" for more information Read the info re: Sky vs Other satellite systems on the web site that I have provided the link to.

Message 1.You could use a UK vpn. Take out internet subscription over here. On a laptop sign in to sky using your username and password from the uk and you will be able to watch the programmes you subscribe to. Bring a device that will allow you to watch on the TV when connected to your Laptop. Don't know what the device is called but easy to find. The above would need you to continue having a Sky account in the UK.

re msg 11 Washerman You are 'AMAZING'.. !! Could you please tell us which satellite - cable of broadcasting to CY - has spare capacity..for all the SKY channels that will be 'broadcasting' ? ;) Could you also tell us why BBC / ITV would want their footprint to be visible in the Eastern Mediterranean This case is very interesting as it is EU common sense ( EU citizens can buy / use an EU product in any EU nation v traditional Nation by Nation TV rights contacts ) FIFIA, the IOC, the UK Prem league et al are making representations to ensure a status quo.. This change -if it happens isn't going to happen in a blink of an eye.. IF folks want UK TV - via SKY ( and not using SKY player via the net - channel options don't reflect the number of channels available on satellite ) - for the foreseeable future - the way is 'big' dishes.. Becky was asking about SKY - not Arabic sat TV that has Eng lang content

Here we go, the three stooges lining up again, all we need now is the freeloading VPN'ers to wade in and they will all be able to sing off the hyn sheet according to 6m's. Here's an interesting question that needs answering: mmmmmm said: UK TV Abroad is a UK entity - and any revenue / costs are UK centred... http://www.cyprus44.com/forums/65190.asp Message 10 out of 52 mmmmmm said: uktvabroad.com: based in Limas(s)ol - and SO?... Paypal are a US co, with an EU entity in Luxembourg and a UK tel no and and the call centre is in Ireland .. Now I don't claim to own a company the size of paypal... HINT: Tax is less in CY, VAT is less in CY, ( like Luxembourg ) http://www.cyprus44.com/forums/65163.asp Message 87 out of 200 Have you made your mind up which one is the right and wrong lie yet ? Googligan, can you answer me a simple question too: Do you know mmmmmm from one of your online gambling (poker playing) sites ?

It must get very hot and sweaty sitting by the computer day and night at this time of year. There's plenty of capacity for channels and I'm sure that your mate Murdoch wouldn't let a little thing like that stop any move towards 'European' satellite TV dominance What if ?

Washerman,no I dont know mmmmmm from any of my online gambling sites, besides I only use one site and if you had SKY you could tune into channel 865 and watch. Now thats your question answered how about answering the others? If you continually make claims on here you know you can't back up you are just making a fool of yourself.

Washerman re msg 20 I have kept away from this childish schoolyard argumens regarding sat TV till now but you have clearly started targeting me now, what's your problem...business not good these days? mmmmm does NOT have a business for SKY installations in north Cyprus so whats the point of comparing him with yourself or your business? I am the one installing SKY systems here..How would you like to compare your track record to mine? You say in other posts you have built your reputation in 7 years and your phone number is 7 year old. I have been in this business long before you even came to Cyprus and my phone number is 37 years old!! be an honest man,do your job without attacking others in the trade and allow people to do make their choices freely!!

re 17, Washerman >>Here's an interesting question that needs answering: << Yet ANOTHER example of Washerman repeating a lie .. You've apologised to ErolZ - when he explained that it is perfectly acceptable for a domain register contact address to be different from the legal entity.. nothing sinsister.. and the question was answered by me, ErolZ. If you remember I asked you.. 1/ Are you IT literate ? OR 2/ Asking a question to which you already know the answer - to suggest 'trickery' - hoping some 'mud' might 'stick'.. ? !! As I suggested neither makes YOU look 'smart' Now then, Gooligan STILL awaits an answer ;) and I REPEAT, Becky123 asked about *SKY*

I have also not contributed to any of these squables over Sky v rest other than to endorse mm's comments and refer people to Iceman. I know what works best for me, it may not be what everybody wants, so why does the Washerlady continually attack any system other than his? Strangley quiet now he is ,after the reply from Iceman.

Hi Becky I had a 2mtr dish fitted in April, my story goes like this, I asked Iceman to come to my villa to have a look and give me a price I liked the sound of him and he's very helpfull over email, so he came said I had to fit the dish at the front of my villa, There is not much room at the front, so after some thought I gave him a call and said can you fit it at the side, plenty of room and not far from my sky box, I got a lot of hummming and arring said he would come and have another look, cut a long story short after waiting a week and a few calls I never saw him again. So I called Acip from I think its skytvcyprus, fantastic was out to me within an hour and in a couple of days I was up and running no problem, I even forgot my remote, he could have said tough phone when you got it but spent an hour finding one. I will be out in August so if you want to come round and have a look feel free
