What has happened to TRNC Villa Owners lately?

It used to be the best BB around, now, at this moment in time, last post 4 hours ago. No-one is really using it. When I look in there are a couple of users or none at all. Has it lost it's appeal? Such a shame really.

I am a member of TRNC Villa Owners but have been unable to make any posts for some time. When I log in and try to make a posting it goes straight back to the log in page. If this is a general problem, it may explain the lack of usage.

I'm still able to post ok but the board has really died a death recently which is a shame as I think there were more residents on it than on this one. A lot of the posters have moved to this board which does have a much more active membership. Is it possible the other board was overly moderated or everyone just got bored with it ('scuse the pun)?

I think you've got it in one. All chiefs and hardly any Indians now - and the "chiefs" are going to other BBs for their entertainment. Serves them right for being so far up their own proverbials.

This has the effect of turning the general section into a love-in, which one can only stand for so long before your finger gets too far down your throat....

A little History:



First there was MSN North Cyprus Information run by Steve - that had some arguments and "personalities"



Then the were some other boards which MSN banned due to complaints and "personalities"



Then along came TRNC Info during this time a lot of specialists came on Bogaz etc.



At a similar time TRNC Villa owners started on MSN - aimed to be more forgiving but monitored to stop "personalities" having slanging matches, personal vendettas etc.



Due to a lot of pot shots and bad blood which kept on having the MSN closure threat sanctioned the moderators put in a lot of effort to create the curent Villa Owners board - it still probably has the best unbiased information.



I think part of the reason it is moderated is to keppe "personal jibes" and as it was never a private communication board but for information sharing and to help each other with regard to the TRNC.



Ismet, Dawn, Teresa please fill in a little more as my memory is stale on it.

It does look a little stale when you click on it now, there's still a stickie with a poll asking what temperature you sleep at night. Last posting on that was 1st September.



When I clicked on it a couple of seconds ago, 16:30 Cyprus time, there were 1 member and one guest on it.

VO started to go down the pan some time with the issue of that now dreaded word - moderation.



There was ALWAYS a load of dross on that forum but as with all forums. That probably accounted for a lot of the posts that Brian is refering to on VO.



As for Kay's question, I return to moderation. I am sure most enjoyed the banter with MM, ES, cypgab, DC, AJ et al, even Nigel, to me they provide the bread and butter of most of the forums. For me, I do not get involved but sit back and enjoy the bunfights.



I hope that the moderators here will learn from the errors on VO and do not take the pedantic, self interested route. I decide to take exception to a moderators view point and what happened deletion.



Will people return in droves. I doubt it. Once most drift from a forum they do not go back. Untill mods accept people for what they are then they back bone will not return either.

If memory is correct i think the old BB got hijacked and all the info was lost, so most people then turned to 44 instead. Its a shame as Ismet + Others put a lot of time & effort in.
