Unless you are married to a turkish Cypriot,at the moment no.And if one day you do get one it'll be TRNC passaport/citizenship.

Hi Ammar

IF you mean Rep of Cyprus..

>>Acquisition of Cyprus Citizenship by Naturalization. To apply for naturalization and become a Cypriot citizen an alien should have a Permanent Resident status and resign in the country 7 years out of the last 8 years prior to his/her application. He/she should submit all documentary evidences as required and demonstrate the basic knowledge of Greek at the interview. There is an absence limitation during the whole residing period which could not be more that 10 months in total.

Important: The final year prior to citizenship application an alien is permitted be out of the country not more than 2 weeks.

Ideally, the procedure of Naturalization could take 1.5 – 2 years.<<

Did any one note the language requirement?... I would have thought Turkish was also an accepted language ? !

No, you can't live in the TRNC and get citizenship in south Cyprus. The only way you can get it in the TRNC is if you marry a TRNC citizen. Even if you do that, don't forget that you will then be hauled into the army to do your national service here. Why would you want citizenship in the TRNC??

I have been here for over 8 years with consecutive business permits and have recently tried and was told the only way at the moment to get a Kimlick (TRNC ID card which = citizenship) is to marry a Cypriot.

this info was given to me by the head of immigration in kyrenia 4 weeks ago

He obviously omitted to mention that when you marry a Cypriot, you marry the family, as well!

The most worrying part of message 3 is the fact that we have to RESIGN in the ROC! I didn't even know I had to work there.
