Not sure if it will stop sand flies but we got some from Cagra, almost opposite Al Shaheens in Karakum. Its silicone mesh & was 2.50TL per metre, the ordinary mesh is 1.50 per metre.

we have to import GENUINE sand-fly mesh,so what you find in DIY stores may be small mesh but probably not the real McCoy.you also have to be aware that not all mesh is suitable for the heat here-very cheap is likely to disintegrate in 1 season (6 months) Be extra careful when dusting/cleaning the mesh after the summer as this is the time that you are likely to put a big hole in it.

mess 1 - you will not keep the sand flys out with mesh - glass is the only sure fire way...............

The mesh size sold in TRNC won't deter the 'Sicilian Sandfly', which can dance through the holes, two by two!



However, they can be deterred by spraying with 'Cypermethrin' [available from the new Homebase Superstore]. The mix ratio is: 1 ml per litre of water - very little! You can also buy [advisable!] a 1.5 pressure sprayer [green top with white, graduated, tank]. This small 50 ml bottle seems expensive at €6.30, but will make umpteen litres of the MOST EFFECTIVE domestic and pet and human safe insecticide - it's been used inAussie, NZ and USA for years, but only seems to have appeared here very recently. All the instructions are in Greek and I told the 'Lambrou' rep. that their marketing is useless unless specified by a meaningful label.



Make sure you spray all mesh,patio furniture and walls, inside all door and window frames, in order to also stop ants, cockroaches, mossies and sundry other 'nasties and bities' from invading your space and stop them 'dead in their tracks'

Cross the border at Metehan > Coca Cola factory to roundabout with Olympic rings > straight over roundabout 'til you come to the first set of traffic lights up the hill - turn left and go down the hill until you come to the first road on your left - take it - you see the Superstore on your right - it's huge, so you can't miss it.



You can buy quality 'mossie' mesh in different sizes in there, too.
