Yes, went there today at lunchtime and had one of the best meals we've had since moving here. We had a penne pollo and mediterranean pizza and both were excellent. Well worth trying and reasonable prices too. P.S. The carbonara is made with cream and egg yolks ;-)

PIPIE : (...) Has any one tried this pasta , pizza , restaurant (...) ===> Pasta!! Pizza!! Sickening, sad Brits, who'd prefer to McDonaldize the whole island - karaoke, English football, fish 'n chips, pasta, pizza, etcetera, etc. Eat local stuff - or stay in England, go to Italy or where ever. Nobody invited you to come here and "Anglisize" the way of living. 1878-1960, the UK day is over. Go to Spain, the Costa's. Leave the people in peace who think it's good the way it is. Come on, where is the best place you've eaten a nice TC meal?!!

Oh dear Dutch Crusader really getting his panties all twisted. Try Theos in Lapta for a really nice authentic meal. Wife and I popped in one night last winter and had one of the best Mezes ever, never get tired of visiting the place.

Maybe he's jealous because there is no Dutch food that anyone could possibly want to eat... worst cheese in the world bar none... He's obviously off on one..... and now thinks he's on a crusade to tell the whole island what they must eat.... Which is odd because I seem to remember him posting menus from a restaurant specialising in Southern-Fried Chicken... We eat predominantly Cypriot cuisine when we are out but as these very friendly people from The Carpenter's who always make you feel welcome have opened this new restaurant we thought we'd give it a try... obviously something they've done has upset DC... Maybe it's not Hobbitses food... we wants our precious, we must have it... Smeagel

Oh dear, I dont think those last two seats sold at the "Crusade" show.. Sorry Dutch, everything in moderation is ok, now when it gets to be overwhelming then I will happily agree with you. In the meantime, keep editing those maps, be sure to mark where all the chips shops are.

Authentichoccie it is in the Colony road. From the big roundabout at the top, turn left and it is just down on the right slightly set back from the road.

Wow, what a measured response! The restaurant is owned and run by 2 Turkish Cypriot Brothers - same family who run Carpenters. I'd hardly compare it to MacDonalds which I've probably eaten in less than 10 times in my life - much prefer burger king lol. Of it's kind, Italian (not English), it is very good. So what's your problem? I eat in Turkish places all the time, I love lamacun, çorba and have said before that you can't beat the tavuk şiş at Cafe De Paris but it's nice to have a change.

So if you live in a country you should only eat the food of that country? Gosh life would get very boring here in the UK if all I could eat is bangers and mash and shepards pie! I think if you look at most countries cuisine bit of it are stolen from others so where do you draw the line?

I think DC hit a raw nerve. The point I think he's making is that supply generally meets demand, but isn't it sad that predominantly Brits and their unadventurous tastes and reluctance to do as the locals do has changed the cultural face of north Cyprus? I'm not saying we don't all like a change now and again, but some people will only hang out at the expat places and that's a shame because small out of the way venues serving authentic scoff could do with more support from those who stay in the TRNC.

"Brits and their unadventurous tastes" Not where I live, there is an Indian, a Chinese, Italian, Thai, Sechuan, Tapas etc and a good old chippy all within walking distance and very well attended by us Brits! I do take your point PP tho that traditionally resorts have to tailor their food towards the majority sometimes at the expense of their own traditional food.

This really sticks in my gullet BUT FOR ONCE i have to agree with pike message 18, it's the Brits abroad syndrome, but hey ho the Indians, Pakistani, Chinese,Italian immigrants to GREAT britain brought their culinary delights to our shores, pity all we have to offer to export in return is greasy old egg & chips, bangers & mash and the great english fry up breakfast. To be fair though I like a nice pasta dish occasionally and in fact I was playing golf at Kyrenium recently and was taken to a place in Chatalkoy (hope it's spelt correctly) called Mascaron, it is owned and run by an Italian and he makes his own pasta, 'as mama used to make it' and full marks it was great

This restaurant is owned by and run by Turkish Cypriots... All they use is fresh local ingredients and combine and arrange these into superb quality dishes... Therefore I don't see that it's any more undeserving of praise and custom than any other good restaurant on the island... Those who don't agree and only want Turkish food can decide not to go... why they need to pick a fight over Britishness is for them... I think some people just want pick a fight.... they were probably bullies at school too...

Honestly DC, what a load of *&!"*! Let people eat what they want and where they want! I have Turkish friends who love a good curry and will have one any chance they get, but who cares? People do tend to gravitate towards what they know, which is why in most of the big cities in the UK and around the world you will find a 'China Town' and so on. If the food is good and people go, then good luck to them, whatever the nationality/cuisine.

They order Pizza and and pasta and chıcken dıshes as takaway all the tıme. In fact ıt was my hall neıghbour who told me about Pomodoro. Thanks Kıbrıs35 |

I think they are Cypriots... their father is a carpenter and ran his workshop, for many years, from what is now the "Carpenters" restaurant in Karaoglanoglu. The 3 sons turned it into a restaurant a few years ago and the dad has now retired. Whether Turkish or Cypriot, they are a really nice family and deserve the success they are having. Anyone who hasn't been should try it, especially in the summer as they have some beautiful gardens. Pomodoro is a totally different concept from Carpenters, but the food is of just as high a standard. My son also loves his pizza... well, that's my excuse anyway!!

Great, had a good few deliveries from there, used to use Manipeni, but seems to have gone downhill the past couple of take aways, also got more expensive. Pomodoro, tastier, cheaper and fast delivery.

The pizza at Pomodoro is the best I have tried here and its good value with friendly service as well. While we normally eat at more traditional Cypriot restaurants the vast majority of the time Pomodoro is well worth going to. Aussie
