@ msg 1, malsancak: The three web sites you mention above do not load into three of my Mac web browsers (Camino, Cruz and Safari) nor do I get an error message - just a blank screen.

Won't load into Explorer, Firefox, Safari PC or Mac, nothing on the android browser or on the iPhone either - all through Nethouse. Can they be accessed via any other ISP apart from Nethouse?

I am having trouble with these sites too. It seems to be a DNS issue. With my connection setup as normal I can not resolve any of the addresses (or 3cyprus.com ) for that matter. Changing my connections DNS setting manualy to use googles public DNS servers (8.8.8.8) and they work fine. I'll poke around some more when I get a chance.

@ msg 1, malsancak: I checked http://www.willenco.com via Google and got "Address not found". And: Camino (one of my Mac web brosers - DC) could not find the host server for the provided address. * Did you make a mistake when typing the domain? (e.g. "ww.mozilla.org" instead of "www.mozilla.org") * Are you certain this domain address exists? Its registration may have expired. * Are you unable to browse other sites? Check your network connection and DNS server settings. * Is your computer or network protected by a firewall or proxy? Incorrect settings can interfere with Web browsing.

Anything that bypasses the DNS servers will solve the problem. A VPN or changing you net connections DNS servers manually or using a proxy server like annoymous.com for example. Nor is it just nethouse, I am with bortec who is a reseller but not of nethouse service. The easiest work round untill they sort it is to manual set your DNS settings to 8.8.8.8 for primary and 8.8.4.4 for secondary, these are googles public DNS servers and using these solves the issue entirely. I am sure this is just a temporary problem. I doubt its a intentful effoert to block sites.

[techspeak]Dutch, the websites used to share a IP with NCFP. As you can see above the websites are loading - people on Extend have no problem. Using VPN would get round the problem of an IP being blocked. The theory is that those websites' IP have got onto a blacklist on a Nethouse DNS server. I'm not thinking of this as being sinister but as being somehow related to the NCFP attack when ISPs were protecting their bandwidth.[/techspeak]

erolz, looks like Nethouse may have the same DNS server as Bortec and that could be the problem. One of the local business website owners is onto Nethouse to solve the problem but if it is more widespread then maybe other ISPs need to be contacted. Few people are going to want to mess around with DNS settings

changing your internet connection to use googles DNS servers rahter than your ISP's ones takes about one minute. Its not a difficult thing to do really. Google provide clear instructions on how to do it here http://code.google.com/speed/public-dns/docs/using.html

bortec call their service emotion. I think it was orignaly a resold arinet service. I think extend and arinet merged a while back. Certainly when I trace out I go via machines labeled extendbroadband.com even though my service is not with extend. As to which IPS's DNS servers do have a problem, it may just be one used by various services or it may be that there is more than one with a problem. I just can not say. If I set my net connetion to 'automatic' for dns servers (that is tell it to use the ones assigned by my ISP) the servers it sets are 78.135.0.10 and 78.135.0.11 THese are not resolving the addresses you gave in post one. If I change to googles (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) they work fine.

Interestingly the owners for the addresses 78.135.0.10 and 78.135.0.11 are Aydogan Communication LTD Unal Aydogan 19 Mayis Cad. No 2 Mersin 10 Girne/KKTC TURKEY and the email address for them is @extendbroadband.com So basically as far as my ISP assigned DNS servers that are not working go, it would seem those servers belong to extend boradband.

My ISP is Extend and I use Google Chrome as my browser of choice. Chrome cannot resolve any of the links posted in message 1 including http://www.anonymouse.org/ It is of no concern to me and I have posted for information purposes only.

Just had an email from someone in the south who can't get the websites - looks like a DNS server related problem. Changing to Google server would of course solve the problem but most people find that a bit techie to do

Not sure if it helps but the first 3 addresses are available from the network connection here in Qatar, the anonymouse is blocked by my company software so I have no way of knowing about the site itself.

Changing DNS settings is not the answer to the problem. The majority of people using this forum and others will not want to get involved if they are not sure about what they are doing. The root problem has to be identified and solved.

Mal the anonymouse.com issue is a different issue to the others. I CAN resolve the IP address using my IPS assigned DNS servers. However I am unable to ping the site or reach it, either directly or via my VPN service. To me it looks like the site itself is not working. Can you access the site mal ?

AJ I agree with you, but changing the DNS servers is a vaible work round for those who do not mind doing such things until the source of the problem is fixed. The root of the problem lies , in my case, with the DNS servers on addresses 78.135.0.10 and 78.135.0.11 which appear to be owned by extend broadband.

erolz it's http://www.anonymouse.org/ not the .com version It'll be interesting to see what Nethouse's response is to the accusation that customers using them as an ISP cannot access fully functioning websites accessible through other ISPs.

Mal seem to be getting the same rtesult for http://www.anonymouse.org that is I CAN resolve the address using my ISP's dns server. I can also ping the site address 193.200.150.82 However I can not access the site via IE of firefox. Not using my 'normal' ISP setup, not via my VPN service nor by changing to the google DNS servers. This is a different issue to the other sites you gave, where using my IPS assigned DNS server I can not resolve the sites (and therefore not see them via browser), but can resolve them (and see them via browser) if I either change to google DNS or use my VPN service.

Quick question on this Mal, have you changed the servers on any of these recently as it might be a migration issue ?

yes proger1, I moved away from Hostmonster two weeks ago and it now looks like the DNS servers Nethouse use have not be updated. Mind you, it looks like they are Turkey based which reminds me of the story of someone in China redirecting US traffic on one of the country's DNS servers. For security, the DNS server you choose (allow) is more important than people realise.

two weeks is more than a migration problem Mal, 5 days should get even the slowest updated systems to recognise the new DNS. Sorry I can't help any more than that. I have just tried from Qtel through the wireless connection which doesn't have company blocking and it doesn't work either so I don't think that the anonymouse.org is a nethouse issue.

proger1, it doesn't look like a company is doing the blocking it's a poor DNS server. If you change the server as per msg#23 then you can get those websites, I believe. As I'm not having any problem I can't do the check myself.

yenibob, I think you might have hit the nail on the head. It looks as if a Turkish dns server which converts the http://www. name into a 255.255 etc ip address is having problems. For some people this is automatically loaded, because the internet provider uses it to resolve addresses. It looks like Extend, Nethouse & Bortec use this server and I guess some of the Turkish boards you were talking about do as well. Short term solution, change to Google DNS server using the instruction here http://manchester-seo-blog.co.uk/configuring-google-dns/ Long term solution would before Nethouse & other problematic ISPs to change their DNS servers.

For info to update all three of the sites listed in the original post msg1 are now working fine from my TRNC connection, without the need to change DNS settings or use a proxy service. Seems like whatever the problem was it is now resolved, for me at least and I would guess other who also had problems previously.
